So it was coming down to weighing the good against the bads...

    Goods:

Added Collectors - Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir
    Inferno Towers
    Added Defensive units
A Red Town Hall - Black is getting boring

    Bads:

    Loot Penalty - BOOOOOOO
Other TH10 bases will PWN you
Still having to spend Millions on walls and 2 upgrades(xbows)

BAH! Now you got me thinking about it again.....
the loot penalty is, in my experience, not so much a penalty, so much that it requires change.

as a TH9, i farmed TH8s using giants, wbs, archers, and a few barbs.

now, as a TH10, i balloonion bases. the build time is longer, but i get more per raid (and i raid far less frequently). i also started raiding in masters (and going for wins for the loot bonus), whereas i had never been higher than Crystal II as a TH9.

if you're still on the fence, then forget about the fact that you could be using all that elixir to get lvl5 pekkas, lvl 6 wbs and wizards, army camps, freeze spell, 5 spells!, better clan castle, better teslas, another xbow, INFERNO TOWERS...

and think of it this way, you get three maxed DE pumps -- that means I get 7200 dark elixir every single day for logging in (remember, i rarely ever get raided anymore). if nothing else, your heroes will thank you for going TH10.

    also, i thought i'd add:

loot penalty sucks in that you'll not see many TH8s that are worth attacking. but i reached a point where my defenses were strong enough and i stopped caring about gold. i let some of my builders fall inactive and just started enjoying clan wars and raids.

other TH10 bases will not pwn you once you get upgraded infernos (certainly not more than you now, as a TH9). i'm assuming you'll have a reasonable layout -- here's a fun fact, i can go HOURS with no attacks even though my TH is sitting undefended outside my base. i think people are just conditioned to seeing mid to late TH10s and hitting "next."

as killer as it is having all those defense upgrades to do, it's nice being able to spend elixir -- and i actually found that saving elixir was a lot harder than gold, at least initially. when you first hit TH10, you'll need to upgrade four camps, the lab, the spell factory, and lots of troop upgrades (not to mention the all important DE drill). you'll be super strapped for elixir, which will be a huge change from a TH9 with elixir storages sitting undefended and constant dragon donations.

I have many issues with this post, but I'll focus on your last couple of lines: the DE. First off, 7200 dark a day is nice, but it's only 2400 more than th 9 (and if you get attacked frequently, you lose very little de from your mines), and the loot penalty will almost certainly cost you more than 2.4k de a day as a fairly new th 10 if you're at all active. You of course conveniently forgot to mention the fact that you also have 500 more de available on each defense (zap zap zap) and your heroes point is ridiculous.

As a new th 10, you'll be farming bases much tougher than you're used to, so not only do you want your heroes available (read: not upgrading), but you want them at a fairly high level. Staying at th 9 will allow you to focus exclusively on walls and heroes, while at th 10 you'll be focused on amassing gold and elixir for all your new toys. Couple that in with the fact that th 9 loot is better, and the best option for heroes is clearly to stay at th 9.

Dont do it,you will only make about a quarter of the loot you are making now. So if you are usually making 4 million gold per day at th9 you would prob make about 1 million as a th10. The loot is not good to say it nicely at th10

2400 DE is significant. and the whole point is that even as a baby TH10 with lvl 1 infernos, you get attacked FAR less frequently than a maxed TH9. I'm not sure what DE zappers has to do with anything -- except to say that as a TH10, you can safely float above DE zapper range because you have two game changing defenses: two multi-target Inferno towers.

moreover, i upgraded my heroes faster as a baby TH10 than i did as a TH9. in fact, i would bet that TH10s farm a lot more DE than TH9s -- TH10s can farm at 2600+ trophies. that's really not viable for TH9s, which can get wiped by relatively cheap armies at that range because they don't have infernos.

a new TH10 will always be attacking bases that are harder than they're used to; that always happens when you upgrade TH levels. at TH10, it's easier than most upgrades because you have maxed tier 1 troops already. and you can always choose not to upgrade your heroes when you hit TH10 (and frankly, with how many upgrades and new defenses you have, it's not hard to use all your builders on gold and elixir upgrades).

staying at TH9 to focus on walls and heroes is simply not for me. the whole problem IS focusing on gold and dark elixir because i'd be wasting all that capped elixir, which could go towards camps, lab, lab upgrades, spell factory, spell upgrades, DE drills, etc. at TH10. you're wasting millions of elixir that you'll have to farm later -- it's much more efficient to farm all three resources at the same time.

God it's worth it. Barely scratching by as it is for inferno upgrades.

Max out defenses, troops and get lvl 15-20 heroes, also those walls are VERY underleveled. Get them to AT LEAST level 8 and get 75+ level 9 walls.
