Also consider that upgrades usually come at two costs:
-Time
-Gold/Elixir/DE
This would remove one of those short-term consequences.

Ok so it's a failed idea... I'm new to this Btw so everything that I've been thinking of is probably years behind. Lol. I was thinking that it would basically get everyone to spend all their loot. Therefore encouraging people to buy more gems. At least a 1 day bonus or even 6 hour bonus... people would empty their storages and rushing into the gem store for their upgrades
