Your base defense does not matter honestly so you can use anything. Its all about attacking in trying to get to masters league. Boost barracks and spells and use as many attack in that time as you can. Rinse and repeat til master. Good Luck

You can't really rely on defense to get to Masters but you do have a guide on GoWiPe so that will get you there for sure. Just stay on and win attacks.

Agreed - TH outside will get you sniped my weaker TH levels, more often than not, as they are all trying to get to Masters as well. Even the odd TH10 might snipe you, for the loot bonus.

Otherwise, anything anti-hog is worth a shot, but for TH9 it's likely to get 2-3 star losses more often than not based on my experience.
