changes to your th8 to th9 base

    Pingfao,

Youve been pretty prompt and willing to discuss your design and that i appreciate.. curious though now that youve been TH9 for a bit and have obviously bgun modifying your base, would there be anything you would change at TH8.. as in one of those "now that i know" situations?

Im still using your "base" TH8 design and it seems to work fairly well other than the occasional complete wipeout from lvl6 units while im still upgrading to lvl5. (and having mortars/towers upgrading)

also per your design, it seems that WB AI will not funnel into the openings, the units will, but if people have 10 WB's they seem to be able to pound them into the side of the base with reasonable success.

    again, thanks for your time.

    Hey Jimmy,

That's a very good question. I did a lot of testing on the design, especially the farming version, before sharing it. There are not any improvement that I can think of that doesn't require additional walls. The only flaw I wished to fix was the AQ's sniping the core while out-ranging the other side's defenses. It seems reasonably hard to do so without the extensive range of the X-Bows.

Regarding WBs, they do get funneled, but less than other troops due to their tendency to break the walls instead of going around them. The idea of the anti-WB mechanics is not to completely nullify WB usage. They redirect WBs away from the core T-Junctions, to the corners, which are heavily reinforced with staggered junctions, reducing their effectiveness.

Pingfao, I recently switched to your farming base design. I am a mid TH8 and was wondering what you would suggest for the order in which I upgrade my walls. I started off with the middle and the intersections, now what? I'm sure I'll be fine choosing for myself but was curious what you think is the best way to go about it. Thanks for the help. Great design!

First I would do the walls that are form the back of the pockets that have a cannon and a gold mine inside, the walls that actually form the second layer of walls. After finishing it would focus on third (also known as the core) and finish the pockets arms towards the end as they serve a funneling role rather than protecting, so could be even level 1.

I would do black first, blue second and red third.

Edit: And by arms I was referring only to the outside walls that form the cannon and gold mine pockets.

Wow I was just about to make a similar diagram to answer atb206's question. Thank you! I actually did blue first, then black, then red though. The black walls are often blown through by WBs, whereas the blue walls require other troops to break down. Thus having higher lvl walls there will be more beneficial.
