what happens when your members are last minute farming, or are cokking their troops so they can attack at a certain time when they usually clash? I like the fixedness of a 24 hour prep day.

Yes incredibly smart. And maybe each clan member has a check mark or X mark to tell their clan leader if they are ready or not.
