Get your army camps maxed so you can hold 200.
I found that giant & healer worked well for me early TH7, but Dragons were best for me after I upgraded them to lvl 2. 9 Dragons, 3 lightning spells, and taking out 1 AD with the rest of your troops can demolish ALL TH7s, most of TH8, and some weak TH9s.

Upgrade your army camps to hold 200 troops first off. The extra 20 troops help loads.
What I find fun is 2-3 Healers, 13-15 Giants, 10 wallbreakers, 10 or so archers, and the rest Wizards to do clean up, along with your Barbarian King. For the spells, bring either 2 rage and 1 heal, or 2 heal and 1 rage. It depends on how well the defenses are upgraded.
Max your army camps so you will have 200 troops. Dragons with rage is a good choice.
