If you really want to protect your base resources, I suggest moving your town hall to the corner and even putting decorations around it to prove that it's safe. Sometimes you will get a strong th9 who just wants to snipe and then gets hit once by the mortar behind your town hall and decides to pummel you instead.
Also, and not to insult your intelligence, but having a farming base is one thing, having a farming army is another. Based off the pic you posted, that many giants would not constitute a farming army.
