Op your idea of farming is a logically one since it imitates real life farming but in the clash the term is used to describe people who focus on gaining resources, through taking from others, instead of gaining the max trophies they can (trophy pushers).
There's basically basically those who rely on their mines who are not considered active players and real relavant to the community, than there's gemmers a term to describe those who gem resources gemming time doesn't usually constitute someone a gemmer and lastly farmers.
Some farmers put their town hall outside some prefer to save trophies unless they have a lot of loot so they can afford to lose more raids for loots sake. The farmers who ONLY farm mines and pumps are not real respected due to not needing real skill. Many farmers are able to use fast build armies to not only grab these abandoned bases but also storages as well. Many farmers use long build armies like ballons and minons to farm high leagues like master and champ for huge loot.
