New to TH8, What do i expect to see and how should i improve my base?

Hi, i just recently upgraded to Town Hall level 8. I was wondering if there was a guide out there that would be useful for me and if you guys had any suggestions on what i should do. This here was my 100% maxed Town Hall level 7 base. pMVVdWk.jpg

First of all, get a new Town Hall 8 base design that you think is good, maybe from looking around the forums or browsing through your clan mates bases. Get the new 50 extra walls and start upgrading them to maybe lvl 4,5,6, up to you. Good that you maxed out your Town hall 7 base before upgrading to TH8.

Get the following things first, since you have 4 builders:

1st builder - upgrade your Lab
2nd builder - get the dark elixir drill
3rd builder - upgrade clan castle
4th builder - slowly get the new buildings one by one.

My advice at this point is to MAX your dark elixir drill to the maximum lvl at TH8, which is lvl 3 drill ASAP. After building it at lvl 1, just constantly upgrade it without wasting any time so as to maximise the output of dark elixir for yourself. The faster you upgrade it, the more dark elixir you can get out of it in one day.

Also upgrade your lab first so you get access to new troop upgrades. There is no definitive upgrade order, so it's up to what you generally want for your army. I finished my lvl 3 dragons, heal spell and max my rage spell first, since they're the most expensive upgrades and I use them for clan war every week.

Clan castle is quite self-explanatory, highest DPS defense to be upgraded first. Important to prioritise this, finish this upgrade and you won't have to worry about it anymore.

In terms of defenses, do your splash damage defenses first. Mortars have one lvl to upgrade, while you'll get your 3rd wizard tower and wizard towers have 2 lvls to max. Important to max your wizard towers to full pink so that it one-shot archers and goblins easily, but you'll have to farm alot for the upgrade cost - 2.68mil each for lvl 5 to 6, so finish that ASAP as well.

Forget to mention: once you've completed your splash defenses, it would be good to allocate one builder each to upgrading your Teslas and Air defenses, both of which you'll get your 3rd one in TH8. AD has one lvl to max, while Teslas have 3 lvls to lvl 6 at TH8. Teslas may look expensive and take a long duration to upgrade, but they're worth it. Don't put them close to the edge of the base - instead try to integrate them into the 2nd/3rd layer in your base.

Mortars are your first priority. You can expect to get smacked around until you have them all upgraded. My advice is do them all at the same time, you will be smashed regularly but only for 5 days instead of 15 days. Your 4th builder should be used on lab and 5th on building the new toys. Once the new walls and buildings are constructed Its time to look for a new base design, there are lots of decent designs on the forum, anything with good trap placement and triangulation of storages and splash/air defences will be okay. Once your lab is finished the troop upgrades are the priority especially your farming troops.
