Totally agree...we are having to kick those who are away on vacation or dont want to do the war, then have them come back when war has started or when they are back from vacation. Way too complicated. The leader or player should be able to switch the button to off when they are away, and switch it back on when they are ready to return!

I still don't like this idea for many reasons. Not going to rehash them all again here. They are easy to find.

I have tried to keep an open mind to both sides of the argument, but the more I think about the cons of implementing an opt out of CW button, the more I think we're better off being forced to war like we are now.

At least with the option to quit and rejoin the clan, we somewhat have control of who participates. It's really not that intrusive, you kick just before requesting to start a new clan war search, and the moment the magnifying glass starts searching for an opponent, you can invite the player back that you just kicked and they won't be part of the upcoming war. That's like a 30 second down town that they're out of the clan, once every 2 days (for the most hard core non-stop CW clans). As for donation count being lost, not a big deal. The clan generally knows who's a mooch and who's generous. The total lifetime donations will never get refreshed.

If you can start to control who does and doesn't go to war, it doesn't feel like a clan anymore. No more "one for all and all for one" mentality. You can bring only the best into war and the players bad at raiding will be missing out on fantastic occasions to improve their CW raiding proficiency. If the leader/coleaders choose who doesn't and doesn't go to war, feelings can be hurt and/or members may be angered at being left out of war. Bad for clan morale, which introduces a NEW issue.

Both sides have a case, it would be nice if a SC representative could start a thread to discuss this once and for all, to clarify why they have decided to stick with not allowing CW opt out options. Is it in their best interest of the game? Is it too expensive/timely to program? Would it go against what clan wars is all about to implement this? Just tell us what your decisions were based upon so we can better understand.

So a clan of 25 players that has 3 opt out would be paired in a 20v20 war. The count would be done at the time that the war search starts, so someone can't opt out after the search has begun.

We have some folks in our clan that are great members so we don't want to boot them, but they simply don't want to or can't do clan wars. It is unfair that they must be brought along to a war both for those that feel forced to participate when they don't want to and for those that can't make it and waste two attacks each.

    Thank you for your consideration.

pit would be nice to have this feature I don't see Supercell adding it any time soon if they've even thought about it so don't get ur hopes up but for the meantime when people are away during war don't have them in clan but in notes app you can put how many donations they had before they left
