    Best clan troops for War - Balloons Vs Wizards

    Hi guys, My name in CoC is Danger.

    At the Lone Wolves are debating the best clan troops for War based on capacity of the clan castle.

    10 - Wizards+Archers / Balloons
    15 - Wizards+Archers / Balloons
    20 - Wizards / Dragon
    25 - Dragon + Wizard + Archer / Wizards + Archers

    The majority of the debate is for clan castles of 10/15. Its generally believed that dragons are the best clan troop, but under 20 space capacity you are dealing with TH5/6s with the capacity of 15.

    I contend that Balloons are the best troop for War Castles with 10/15 capacity. When TH5/6 are attacked typically it is ground troops. A smart opponent will lure and kill the clan troops. Wizards lured in such a manner will be killed with archers easily. Balloons have high HP so it takes a while to knock them out and when they fall they kill the archers shooting them. Also as an added bonus lightning doesn’t hurt the balloons very much, but will kill archers and half the HP of the wizards.

    Has anyone done testing? So what do you think wizards or balloons?

    balloons are pretty bad for defense - assuming they are lured, they can only attack once every 4 seconds and are far too slow to get within range to even do damage.

    honestly i prefer wizards/archers over dragon, just because dragons are slow, take up a lot of space and their attack speed/frequency is pretty low too. archer wiz can be killed by lightning spell though, but at lower levels this hurts a lot more (assuming that the person with a CC of size 10/15 is probably only going to be attacked by people of low level). One lightning spell could be 1/2 or 1/3 of that attackers spell arsenal.

    You miss the true power from balloons though. That they do damage when they fall and die. So all archers attacking the balloon get squashed.

    Balloons are not suitable for defense. They die fast. I prefer Wizard and Dragon.

    they don’t die faster than wizards

    Question so wierd

    at first it will sound weird but read on.
    During our second war , i asked for troops for defence. One guy gave me last lvl WB. I asked him why dude , then he told: " Man u wait and see , Many of them r using witches" . I replied " So what". He told" Wait and see".
    Some Guy atacked me in war he only got 15 %. I got suprised, so i checked the replay. He was doing a mass witch raid. He forgot to lure out the CC troops. OUt came the WB . It went to the witches and BOOOMMM. All the witches died . I dont know how he then got 15%. But is was somewhat wierd. We won 50-49. So close.

    Wizard + Arch combo is what we dish out in our war cc's unless otherwise noted by our members. Some like a witch sprinkled in, others swear by the valk and the guys that just get their 20 capacity cc always ask for max level drag.

    While Ive had a few B'loons save me the occasional loot, They are not great on Def.

    For one) they only target ground. Wiz/Arch/Witch/Drag are Air'n'Ground attackers.

    2) Minions and Dragons slaughter them since they cant fight back.

    3) They are the slowest troop in the game! slower than Giant/Golem, but have arguably the highest DPA (damage per attack) for any troop class on a level-to-level basis.. (max troops especially) so there is some worth..

    those reasons diminish their defensive worth IMO.

    I like to have something that will fight ANY adversary that comes to my war base. not just the ground guys...what if they have air troops when they attack? then the loons are useless..

    I see what you are saying, but the air and ground attackers are more balanced and therefore more effective (wiz especially;Splash damage) for def, IME.

    I am getting to the point where I would just prefer 30 archers when I want a defensive castle.

    Level 2+ Valkyrie are lethal in a TH5 or 6 Clan Castle. They have high hit points and do high AOE damage. A single Valk/Wiz/3 Archers in a 15 unit CC can force a low level to use a large portion of their troops effectively guaranteeing that they don't 3 star the base. A 20 unit CC can hold 2! And if they forget to pull the CC first? Forget about it!
