I farm with barbarians and archers.

Just make sure you raid 2-3 times before you sign off (win them, obviously) and have your farming layout. 95% of the time an opposing player will just snipe your th for the 1 star and since you've (hopefully) raided more trophies than you lose, you'll maintain your master status.
When farm in m3 I try and raid 15 trophies before I sign off and grab a shield. I get 1 starred for about 8-13 trophies so so long as you gain more trophies than you lose you should be fine... Common sense, no?

I have never been up there, but I have heard of people using Barch to get 50% on a base so they can live off of the league bonus.

Are you TH10? You should be able to farm in M3 / lower M2 with a variety of armies, no problems. If your TH is in, chances are you'll survive an hour or more logged off in between raids if you are below 2800. If your TH is out, chances are still decent you'll get a TH snipe.
Personally I am using 20 balloons and 70 minions, with minimal spells, around 2800 cups, and it works a treat. Occasionally I use GoWiPe for fun and to blow excess elixer - it doesn't necessarily farm resources any better, but occasionally you get 400k+ gold in a base your balloons would struggle with even with loads of spells. I've not tried b-arch, but will soon, as I have found that BAM is a bit too weak for Masters. I never dared to use hogs in Masters, not even before the update - too risky and needs too many hogs and spells for farming above mid crystal.
