Why do only the top three players of the top three clans get gems?

The top three clans get gems that are divided equally among the top ten players of each clan.
1st Place Clan gets 20,000 gems: 2,000 gems per player in the top ten playersof the clan.
2nd Place Clan gets 10,000 gems: 1,000 gems per player in the top ten players of the clan.
3rd Place Clan gets 6,000 gems: 600 gems per player in the top ten players of the clan.
I'm guessing it's just to make people compete both as a clan and within a clan.
That's my take on it!
Alright, thanks for the input. I'd be nice if they would give gems as a reward on a smaller level. Like 10 gems per win in war, but that probably won't happen.
