Keep your de and cc(important) in the middle and always request at least a wizard from the clan mates. Keeping the cc in the middle is important as the attackers needs to reach the middle to lure them out. Some of them don't want to take the risk to lose all the giants(mostly) and click next, some just simply spam giants and hogs. Having a wizard in the cc made a important role in the defense. Archers do little damage and wizards do devastating splash damage toward stacked troops. "YOU SHALL NOT PASS"-Gandalf. A few hit and they are goner. compare to archers always do little damage to giants and a heal spell can completely negate the damage. Having a wizards can make a different.

I've been TH8 for about a month. I've maxed mortars and have 2 maxed wizard towers, all level 7 walls and maybe 30-40 level 8 walls. My DE storage is 1 day from level 4, and my Barb King is level 8 (just to give you a sense of how far along I am).

I have had a few TH9's hit me for 1K DE but only a few times, and I've had a lot of DE available collecting for upgrades. Most has been mentioned here, but I'll reiterate and state what's helped me.

    1. TH outside - way outside. Don't be a douche and put a tesla next to your exposed TH, or put your TH outside your walls but in range of a mortar. You will be inviting someone to empty spells and wreck your base.

    2. Base design. If you are protecting your DE, then protect it! I have mine in the center, within range of all 3 mortars, all three wizard towers and all three teslas (2 level 3 and 1 level 1). Clan castle is not in the middle, but that's by design.

    3. Spend what you get as fast as you can. If you have 30K DE and no gold, you might get lucky and get skipped. The few times I've lost 1K DE in a raid I was sitting on a significant amount of DE and gold. Sometimes builders are busy and you end up with too much of everything, but plan as best you can.

    4. Don't make a habit of picking on TH9's. If I see a preemie TH9 or a real juicy one that fairly new, I'll definitely attack. However, if I see one with level 8/9 walls, things upgrading, looks mid-stage or late stage I will almost always avoid it, I won't even snipe the TH if I'm looking for cups. The way I figure, there's no reason to tempt a revenge attack from someone with maxed tier 1 and 2 troops and an archer queen. I do my farming on TH7, 8 and 10 (rare).

Before you log off, queue up a bunch of troops in Dark Barracks while your camps are full. It won't protect a huge amount but every bit counts xD

If you want DE as your first priority, yes. Just make sure your troops are maxed.

I can get to like 20k DE no problem but after that I start getting raided by like th 9s+ and they take 1k everytime! And thats excluding the countless lighting spells (which I dont mind as much since they only take like 400-600) that people always do. Would dropping trophies and then relying only on my drill be a good tactic or what can I do? I am a nearley maxed th 8 and I still havent found a base that can protect my DE from th 9s
I recently started letting my elixir pumps fill up and not touching them. I have gotten a lot of attacks where they will get 200k elixir not much gold and not much de. I have also had over 30k de, currently at 45k. It seems like a good strategy because people know to look for full pumps. If you can't get your th sniped, this seems to increase the chances of someone barching to take you out and leave your de.

You may still get wiped out from time to time but there more people barching and th sniping than th 9s with a nice army that can crush th 8s, at least in my recent experience with this strategy. As a th8 I have full elixir and don't mind giving up 200k per raid if it increases my chances of keeping de.

They have plenty of DE there. I hope you at least pick one of the choices

    Good Luck, DonCoC
I've used plenty of gems in my CoC career, but never for a shield. How boring to buy a shield, and just sit on the sidelines for a week. I would much rather spend gems boosting barracks/spells/hero, where I can steal more in two hours than a drill can make in a week.

Definitely leave your TH well away from your walls to encourage snipes, and think twice about picking on TH9s (who are more likely to level you in response).

It is useful if you are going on vacation where there is no wifi like a cruise, yes you can pay for access but it is overpriced.
There are 10 types of people. Those who know binary and those who don't.
