Hi, I am sure this is a dumb question and "look for youtube vids" would be a highly recommended solution to the question of how to use Valkyries... but any other suggestions to how to use them best? What sort of armies should be used with them?

Given they just recently had their AI completely changed the jury is still out on how to use them effectively really.
I have been using them mixed in with Giants, HP wise they are fairly similar - and as they try position themselves between buildings they tend to push deeper into a base. I find them combined can push quite deep into a base doing a lot of damage along the way.
If you are a healer fan, they can work with Valks too - just be careful of Air Defenses as like Giants; they get drawn deeper into the base than average troops do.

I wouldn't recommend using valks. They can't really do anything that another troop won't do for a fraction of the time spent building. If you must use them I would use them with gaints amd wizards as I assume you are th8. Clear buildings on edges before you let a lot of them go or else you'll just waste their DPS on barracks and collectors.
Since you just got Valk, I'm assuming you are TH8. Right now as it is, Valks aren't as good support units at all when it comes to secondary attacking. Meaning GoWiPe style with Valkyrie, the Valkyrie will just go ahead of the pekkas and start to take hits from all the cannons and defenses, not to mention the fact that most of the time since they are the faster troop, their job will be in the front line mowing down the wall. Once the wall is broken though, the Valkyrie has to position themselve between 2 buildings (most likely two defence or soemthing), where they'll be hit even harder. If ONE of the building breaks, they scatter to move to a 'better' location and then get killed by then.
Having Valkyries as a Primary attack force though seems alot better, as you can support them with better troops, but the thing is it's really difficult to 3 star with them, and they could just fail to 2 Stars as well since they are still going for closes buildings.
It's better off with Lv5 Wizards, as they are 2 for the price of 1 Valkyrie, shoots OVER the wall, and are slower compared to the tanks of the game. I've tried 10 Valkyries with Pekka. I've tried 4-6 Valkyries with pekka/GoWipe, and to be honest, 2-3 always wanders around too quickly and gets killed, 3-4 of them most of the time follow the Pekkas but are too fast and just aim for the walls and die going inbetween buildings.
Conclusion: Wiz > Valk. Valk takes too much blow, and aren't worth more than 2 Wizards on support.

At th8 Valkyrie are plenty powerful, particularly with the heal spell.
Look at that post, I recommend the Valkyrie Tornada at th8.
Give her a chance people!
That being said she is more clan war material than anything at th8

I like to use her for cc troops. Or on bases in CW that have a bunch of buildings smushed together.

I use valk with barch to farm. She is my tanking troop especially to farm for DE since i need to penetrate deep. Yes she does died in a couple of second. but it gives my barch enough time to get to the de storage.
I' m at TH9, have lvl3 valks (soon lvl4) and having a very very hard time to 3 star a base as easily as using Hogs. Infact, i never get it right.
Unlike hogs, valks are not going to last the whole session, its only about 60% before the whole valk die. Healers AI is screwed up too. So expecting the healers to do its good to heal the valks is too far.
Base type to attack is also important, those with many walls will cause it to bog down and get slaughtered by the wiz towers.
So for Clan War, i still go for Hog raid, at least out 10 raids, i manage to get 7 3 stars. If i use Valks, i will be 10 2 stars against similar base.
Many bases are still noob bases that dun have max Giant Bombs and easily 3 star by Hogs
Valks are just over rated. And quite a waste of time and resources upgrading it. Should have spend all that DE on Heroes. And yes, no one force me to use Valkyrie, all the hype out Valks is just hype...nothing more.
I know there are a few examples of good 3 star valk attacks but ask them, how many 3 star they have using Valks?
If SC wants to make Valkyrie Super troops, pls make it 'Super!!'.
Supercell, pls reduce the space needed from 8 to 4. And improve its hitrate, crazy training time and everything else. And i also hope SC increase back the size of the Jump Spell to its original size.
And yes, i like changes done but for the Valks, its just not enough. And I'm very frustrated!! And could be even be made a laughingstock by my Hog raiding Clanmates. Its just plain ridiculous. And my clan leader is also kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ of with me as i used to give 6 stars in every war with Hogs. Now with Valkyrie only 4 stars. I shall give Valks a few more try, then, I'm back to hog.
