Post [TH9] Anti-Hog, hard to lure CC, farming design, (southern teaser-ish?)

    Disclaimer:
Due to the fact that I am now a TH10, I won't be able to further tweak this design. But I'm sure you guys will find out what works for you :)
    Sorry!

    Hey guys! =)
My name is Darkness4910... or Ramuné, as my best friend likes to call me. Anyways...

In this thread, I am going to introduce you to my first ever self-made base design! yay! Was about time after ~9 months of playing, eh?

farglschmitz has inspired me to call it...
    Bear's Claw

The creation of this base was inspired by an alternate base design by TheOneKamikaze posted in this thread somewhere. I can't find it any more though (I'm sorry!). I liked it's non-squared core and decided to just roll with the idea of a weirdly shaped one. And this is how I started designing this base.

The village is a farming design, which will hopefully help you to keep your resources, especially your precious dark elixir! I tested it from gold 3 to almost crystal 1.
Please leave feedback down below! Both positive and negative!

In the first post you'll find general information about my village. Trap placement, layout, cc radius, etc. I'll try to cover as many details as possible and may go more in-depth in the future!
In the second post you are doing to find a collection of defensive logs, provided either by myself or a friendly forum member :)

It ended up kinda looking like a southern teaser I find, since the dark elixir is so close to the bottom. The bottom is also where most BAM and Barch attacks come from. To weaken these types of attacks, the mortar will fire at any troop that tries to attack the town hall from the side.
A few traps have also been put in place to defend against these low tier attacks. This (and loonion attacks) is the reason why there are two wizard towers in the core. The storages next to them are one block further out than the WT itself, which makes archers and other ranged units target the storages over the WT (it looks really frustrating sometimes).

Even though my town hall is on the outside, I sometimes get to wake up to this in the morning (even around crystal 2):

    > Here is an overview of the village:

    Clan castle radius:

    >>> Having problems copying this design? Check out the blueprint at Clash of Clans builder!

My village features a very hard to lure clan castle. So far, only one hogger has managed to lure out my clan castle by somehow making a hog rider run in between the WT and archer tower at the top right. I am also pretty sure that a balloon would be able to lure out my CC troops from the top left/right (nobody has tried that yet). Those seem to be the the only two weak spots of my clan castle. I feel like this can be fixed by moving two hidden teslas to the position where the black air mine is positioned. This would also protect the traps.

Notice the fake tesla spots. A few people seem to be falling for these.

Still having problems locating the traps? This link should help!

This is a screenshot showing you the positions of my traps. As you can see, there are six spots where two double bombs can be hidden around the outer ring. Feel free to move them around as you like.

I find it hard to see on the picture, but there are two mini bombs in between the red air mine and the tesla at the bottom. These are there to defend against BAM or Barch users trying to get to my precious dark elixir. Works pretty well (unless a single barbarian decides to trigger them). They work pretty well against wall breakers as well!

The two mini bombs below the dark elixir storage are there to get rid of a horde of annoying goblins. Watching them die all at once right there is extremely satisfying.

I am still trying to fix the positioning of the two spring traps at the top. Sometimes, they only seem to work one-way.

Here is a picture showing you how my village messes with giants. They will break through the walls from 1 to 2, but they won't break the wall in between 3 and 4. They will walk all the way around the compartment, wasting a lot of time.
Note: Weird, I was just attacked and the giants did not follow this behavior. It seems to depend on where the first hole in the wall is created. Will have a closer look on this!

    > Featured variations of this design

Due to the fact that there are so many creative heads out there, some players started creating variations of this design. Some even took the creation of a trophy variation into their own hands! Thank you so much for your contributions!
Though I will only be featuring variations that keep the anti-hog nature of this design.

Oh and please note that I have not tested these out myself and thus won't be providing any support regarding variations which are not mine. Use at your own risk :D

    Version history:

I felt like I should add something like this. Some people may find stuff like this interesting.

    Version 1_0
^ Overall terrible against Barch and BAM. I once lost most of my resources to 220 archers. The dark elixir is not protected at all and I wasted a lot of space at the top with a hog buffer, which ended up being waaay too big (3 rows of non-defensive buildings!). Do yourself a favor and never use this.

    Version 1_1 (release)

^ Most recent version. Much more reliable.

    Post Defensive Logs

Now, I know what you are waiting for: Defensive logs.

Please note that I did not take a picture of every single defensive log, mostly due to me forgetting. Don't worry, I am not hiding anything, I will post the good, the bad and the terrible defenses ;-) These logs are not in order, I just dug them up in my screenshots folder on my phone. I am very sorry if there are any duplicate defense logs :x

I cut out most of the TH snipes and lightning attacks on my dark elixir.

During most of the enemy attacks, I was sitting at ~2 million gold, 8 million elixir (+ full pumps) and 20'000 to 70'000 dark elixir, which means the maximum amount of loot they could have gotten was around 300k/500k/1'000. Just for a point of reference.

^ All wins, woho! n_n I don't know why they refused to take my town hall though.

^ These two defenses were pretty hard hits actually X_X

^ Attacked from the bottom. The giants said farewell to the rest of his army and ran to the right. The first wave of goblins and archers were eradicated by the double mini bombs in the middle, though the second wave of lvl6 goblins came with the help of a healing spell and thus my WT were not able to kill them instantly. They took 68% of my dark elixir.

^ Attacked from the west. My outer air defenses are upgrading, so his healer got to live as well as his giants. He managed to drill a small hole into my core, which led his goblins to my dark elixir. He dropped a rage spell onto them for good measure. 1300 (57%) dark elixir stolen within under a second, these guys are nasty! Also, it looks like he forgot about the existance of my town hall. Instead of sniping it at the end with his king, he deployed him at the western part of my village.
^ His goblins got converted to white mist by the double mini bombs in the middle. His Barch attack drifted to the left and got screwed up by the mini bombs there. I have never seen so many ghosts at once. But he took two gold storages with him.
^ Barch from the north-eastern corner. Took one storage of each and my full elixir collectors. He should have attacked from the west, the giant bombs really messed with him, they went off one by one.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    > Defensive logs from forum users!

Here I will be showcasing some of the defensive logs a few have shared in this thread. Just to have some further proof as to how good or bad things can go.

Please keep in mind that I do not know how advanced these guises villages are.

    Nope.

39%, no gold taken, no de taken, 1-star from the snipe only.

Attackers really do forget to clean up that outside TH when they attack from the top as your logs show occasionally happens.

And the golems followed the teslas perfectly btw, led them allllllll the waaaaaaay arounnnnnnd the outside, with the heros. Core not penetrated, no de lost.

    Love it, great job man.

I was happy with how the base held up against lev 5 hogs and lev 6 wizards. Debating as to switching the de storage and clan castle back to the original spots again

Every troops and spell was maxed out. Just 2 star but every storage gone down, but it's normal.

Thank you for you great work!

This thread makes no sense. How would you gain so many trophies if your town hall was outside? Is there a trophy version to the base?

    Looks good.

And thanks for having the defense logs ready BEFORE posting the base...far too many clowns here who post there own "what do you guyzzzz think" threads when they could find out if a base is solid themselves just by testing it.

I don't think there will ever be one.

Edit: Actually, there is one now, I added it to the OP.

There is no trophy version. All those wins were gathered with my town hall outside. In the defensive logs you can see quiet a few examples of people just leaving at 39%.
They were probably frustrated that their giant pathing got screwed up and hoped that some other guy could roll over my base now that my CC is gone and most of my traps were triggered.

    Thanks!! :)

I tried doing that and it would just lead to them protecting nothing but the core due to the extremely low range (they would barely be covering the heroes).

One way to make them more effective while pointing upwards would be to switch their position with the mortars. This way, they would be able to protect a little more of the outer ring, not much though. But it would screw up my mortars, as they would not be able to protect my dark elixir any more.

A second way would be to twitch one x-bow with one air defense. This would result in a 50% coverage of the outer ring, as opposed to a 100% coverage right now.

    I'm not sure.

    Hehe thank you :)

I figured showing you guys the defensive logs would give you an impression how well (or bad) my village can perform in various leagues.
How would I be able to make others use my village if they don't know how stable/reliable it is?
