There's no point of maxing out every single detail, just move on if you have a little bit unnecessary stuff left.

I've left teslas, archer towers, cannons, 50 lvl6 walls, barracks, darkbarracks, de storage, some troop research, BK lvl 4.

if i were you, i will max TH8 before moving on.

I maxed my king and my walls before I moved up. I couldnt spent extra dark elixir or gold from that point at 8. As a general rule of thumb for most town hall levels I use: max hero(es), walls, or defense, whatever comes first.

I choose to maxed out everything and stay for a longer time at TH8 because of loot penalty system on TH9

and of course enjoy the game with lots of loot
