Clan Castle Troops: What do you use them for?

Im never overly specific, when pushing i do somewhat care though. My farming request is "anything except giants" i req A LOT too but i try to donate as much as possible(req more than i donate though usually now haha)

Dunno if anyone mentioned this, but as you get to higher levels, the cc troops are a must for taking out the enemies hero(es) and their cc troops... This can be a game changer!

I always request "anything"...sometimes I'll get witches, pekkas or high lvl wiz, sometimes I'll get lvl 2 giants. I honestly just want backups, and I'll adjust my attacking strategy based on my CC. I also do this so the lower level guys can donate and not feel bad or intimated not to donate just bc I'm a higher TH than them. I usually donate lvl 5 wizards or lvl 2 minions as default, and our clan leader, I always give him my best troops, bc he always gives me two witches during clan wars..and I'm a TH8 that uses golems so witches are perfect.

In fact, our whole clan has basically stopped being CC troop snobs and no one ever really requests certain level troops unless it's for war or revenge. It makes donating and asking so much easier, people now always request, and I get to donate 2500-3000 per season now.

What does ♥♥♥♥ me off however, are when the lower level guys just waste our bad ♥♥♥ troops bc they don't know how to use them properly, or just use them even though the battle was in hand. I use mine as a "in case of emergency, break glass"..unless it's giants, I send those out first to act like a nice meat shield for my meat shields

I use them for defense or as last resort troops to get that last few % to win a raid.

I use cc troops in nearly every raid
I have 220 army camp space and 30 housing space in my cc
The extra 30housing space of minions/archers helps a lot
Also as these are cheap troops people do not mind donating regularly as it hardly effects their elixir stocks
Once your clan has the mindset to use cc troops in every raid donating plenty is no problem as you request plenty yourself
Its all about everyone donation/requesting in a clan so people have the opportunity to have whatever ratio they want
(My clan has a minimum 1000 donate per season with no ratio and this works well for every body)
Basically more troops = more loot
Of course dont waste cc troops but they should be used regularly

Ideally I would ask for anything without a favorite target, but I eventually end up with giants or something I don't want, so I stick with barbs and archers. Yes, we do enforce a donate what we ask policy.

9 times out of 10, they're for defense but I do occassionally find a base I use them on, or I accidentally hit the flag instead of archers. Lol

We typically enforce a 1:2 ratio. I follow it in both that I will try to keep my donations up (usually 1:1) and I won't donate to someone who is under the ratio. Others don't care and will donate 2000 troops before they request one. Either way doesn't bother me.

We have no rules in terms of what you can request. The newest guy can request witches all day. The only caveat is his request may stay up all day because no one feels like making witches.

I'm generous to those who are too, meaning I don't donate to people who got about 300 troops and donated nothing. That means I get up to donating 1000 troops or more easily and because of that I personally think I may use my troops in raids and request more.

I mostly ask for archers to use them for defending (as they attack air targets too) or I use them to get the last final buildings to get a 50% or some more loot.

Thanks for the responses, everyone! I appreciate the diversity of approaches mentioned here, which I think goes to show the depth of the game design. There is no one ideal way to attack or to defend with clan reinforcements. And certainly some of you have given me a less selfish perspective on donating troops.
