Clan Castle Troops: What do you use them for?

Hello, here's a question that I think pops up every now and then in every clan. What do you think is an appropriate way to use clan castle troops? When it comes to troops requests, are you "selfish?"

I'm of the opinion that clan castle troops are what the game calls them: reinforcements. Use them to defend your base while you sleep, or take them with you during clan wars to give extra oomph to your attack. As a maxed TH6, I like archers and wizards for defense as they have the longest range and attack both ground and air units. Although I play CoC every day, I probably request troops once or at most twice on a regular day, and I only request the kind of troops I can give in return.

With this mindset, I get annoyed with lower leveled players who ask for high-powered troops or keep requesting troops for regular farming. What, is my elixir not as precious as theirs? Are they even using these reinforcements efficiently? In this sense I'm a "selfish" player: I only want to donate powerful troops for clan wars. I have no incentive to be generous for non-war contexts. (and yes, generosity is by definition not incentive-driven)

So forum-ites: are you a more generous clan member than I am? What drives your generosity? What principles do you follow when donating/requesting clan castle reinforcements?

Surprisingly - 35 archers is very effective - try that (for defence)

Archers - all you can use
Wiz/loons/stuff that takes a long time to cook or really pricey - only ask for them if you are going to donate them yourself as well. In my clan we also will give you wiz/loons for overnight defense or revenge.

Ps. And yes, a mixture of large number of archers with 2-3 wizards are very good for defense. MUCH better than dragon for defense.

The clan I am in do not enforce ratios, they encourage you to use your CC every single raid to improve your loot / cup potential each raid.

And archers are default [as they are often best] but other troops get donated also if requested.

I request troops every 20 mins. It's their choice to donate or not. Plus, I request every 20 mins so that clan mates can reach 300 donations (donation min) of course, it's too easy and we end up getting 2K+.

I use them for defense or as last resort troops to get that last few % to win a raid.

I always ask for wiz in my CC for farming, def and sometimes clan wars. Not cause' I'm greedy, but I use the wiz as a last resort/extra dps in raids with big loot or good DE, also on def they can't be lightninged easily and wreck troops.

I usually just use them for defense, but if I absolutely need them in a farming raid the enemy must have something I want. Other than that I definitely use them in clan wars when I'm going in for the 100% 3 star kill.

for normal raids, my standard request is 'archer/wizard/minion pls'

my CC is there for that last 1% or missed bit of loot so may be used during every raid at times.

my ratio is always higher on donations by the end of the season though so its never really been an issue.

I dont really like having anything big or expensive in there - it always seems like a waste.
