i was just asking..i was just wondering why I had more gold available than elxier......geez
most of my mins r lvl5 gold/elxier I don't think thats the reason why

Are your storages filled with at least 50% then the attacker gets the max amount available.
For example:
A th8 has 2x level 11 gold storages filled with 2.000.000 out of 4.000.000 (50%) then the attacker gets 300.000 gold.
A th8 has 2x level 11 elixer storages filled with 4.000.000 out of 4.000.000 (100%) then the attacker gets also "only" 300.000 elixer.
If a th8 has 2x level 11 elixer storages filled with 1.000.000 out of 4.000.000 (25%) then the attack gets 150.000 elixer.

Great rule of thumb excepting that it's wrong.
The fact that the cap for TH8 is 300,000 from storage has nothing to do with capacity. If you still had a lvl 9 storage, the maximum stealable loot from all storage would still be 300,000 per type.
Regardless, TH8 protects all but 14% of its storage, up to that cap at 300,000, which happens at 300,000/.14 or 2,142,857 resource in storage. Not 2,000,000.
