Negatives: With the way some peoples devices lose connection there could easily be an exploit in duplicating currency or a major loss of currency. Low levels could join a clan and store their "investment" in a higher level until the need to upgrade, which would take the fun out of the CoC challenges. Players wouldn't get the same battle experience as they would working hard for the you Gold/Elixir. Ultimately, it'd be another thing to cause rifts and fights between friends/clan mates; and no one wants that.
