Base Making- (Short n Sweet) The 'Need to Know' Tips and Tricks (Unofficial)
Hi guys!
This thread is going to be all about the basics of making your base and the stuff you need to know to have an all-round good defense (for beginners)
What a good base should have:
*Compartments- You always need a decent amount of compartments, the honest truth is the more you have, the harder its going to make it for your attackers with the exception of Hogs and air troops.
*Funneling- Funneling is not a must-have but if you can use it properly it will really help you defend your recources, as well as really angering your attackers. (If you don't know what funneling is I will probably make a guide or you can read TheDonMegas' awesome guide to funneling at:http://forum.supercell.net/showthread.php/221122-Basic-Funneling-101 )
*Building Placement- When you are trying to make and elite base, building placement is very crucial. You can't just put towers down randomly but some things to always remember about building placement are:
>Keep your clan castle deep so attackers can't draw out your troops, this will also make it difficult for them to 3 star you as your CC troops will be a big problem for them.
>Make sure your towers back each other up such as: Cover your mortars with Cannons and Archer Towers so they can protect the mortars no-fire zone, Make sure you cover Air defense as they are the only tower that does sufficient damage enough to kill Dragons and defend your base against air-born troops
*Trap usage- It may not seem like it but traps are very important in defending your base:
>They can instantly get rid of deadly troops
>With the right placement they can defend your buildings from threats that could possibly stop you from getting destroyed
>They also help your towers to narrow down the enemy numbers and and stop masses of troops from overwhelming your defense
*Another important point is tower upgrades, people usually don't know which towers they should level up in order to really strengthen their defense. The most important towers to upgrade are most likely your splash damage towers and Air Defense. If you have your splash towers and Air Defense at a good level (whilst also having your single target towers at a level good enough to defend your base), then most un-experienced attackers will actually shy away from attacking you. But the main point is your base will be well defended as long as you strengthen your towers as you grow. Although, every tower is special in its own way so also make sure you analyse your base layout and see which towers are the most important for your base.
Thanks for taking the time to read this guys and I would appreciate it if you highlighted any mistakes I made as this is the unofficial version and there are probably a lot of changes to be made. I might later insert pictures if you guys want or if it seems necessary. Once it is fine tuned I will post the official version and that one should have pictures. Remember this is a thread on the basics and not advanced defense and I wanted to make this short and sweet for you guys.
