operationally speaking, hogs are less effective because they were balanced by giant bombs being buffed. Are you even at a level where you can use hogs?

    herp a derpety derp derp
It's stupid arguing about semantics. Nerfing something refers to making it weaker and can refer to indirect weakening. Imagine all turrets now do 999 more damage to hogs only. Would you use your stupid logic and say that all the turrets were buffed but hogs weren't nerfed? If you would, no one can help you. Moreover, it doesn't even matter. Hogs are less effective now. It doesn't matter what we call it.

@OP: The hogs bunch up eventually or lack the firepower to break the towers effectively. Also the possibility of a centralized hero makes hogging much harder. I can sometimes hog other TH 9s but only if they have a low level archer queen (10 or below for me) and I can't see a double giant bomb inside their base.

Now, there are ways around the buff to giant bombs. For example, you can look at the number of 2x bomb spots. If the geometry of the base allows 1-2 hogs to proc the bomb pairs you can deploy to trigger before you dump your main hog groups.

In your case as a TH7, you shouldn't be using hogs. Level 1 or 2 hogs are highly susceptible to a single giant bomb.

When you go up in TH levels the best approach after the giant bomb buff is to use a real attack strategy, such as a gowipe or gowiwi
Regardless of philosophical and verbage-based semantics we agree that they are now less effective. But you're wrong, I should be using hogs, because I love using hogs. They're my favorite. So being that I should be using hogs, I will be using hogs. And since I will be using hogs I will take your thoughts into consideration. I still think it might be better just to release them piecemeal and let the parts fall as they may. But I will try your triggering strategy and will hope that it goes well.

spread hogs, heros won't be able to chase them around, attack bases that don't have many 2x2 gaps. Carrys 2-3 witches wiz in the cc, and some extra barch for clean up. Along with heroes. Also bring a rage to make hogs run out of heroes range.

I'm still a TH7 and have been able to three star many TH8's in clan wars using hogs, so I just find it a lot of fun. Once I get some of the bigger and more effective tanking troops I probably won't be using hogs as much. I haven't given much thought really to hogging beyond TH7 but it definitely sounds like there are better ways to go. But for now it's the funnest way for me to war.

I think the biggest problem with the update was not being able to lure out the heroes, namely the AQ. You can kinda see where the big bombs are and drop a healing spell but the AQ can hunt down hogs if she's placed in the center of the base where the TH usually resides in war bases. Hogs should be able to attack the heroes like other troops do.

On a side note, I really wouldn't start using hogs till maybe TH8 and definitely TH9. They cost too much DE if you only have a lv3 DE pump or none at all.

I agree wholeheartedly. That AQ dominates my hogs. I fear her more than silly bombs.

You don't need to lure it. Have had consistent success by simply distracting AQ with WiWi whilst Hogs do their business as usual.
