    TH8 Farming Base (No name yet). New strategy?

    Hey guys, this is my first post on the forums although I read around pretty often.

    I've always been interested in base design, and here's one of my designs that's worked extremely well for me, all the way up through Crystal 3 so far.



    Here's a pro/con list off the top of my head:
    PROS
    1. Centralized CC, BK, and DE storage.
    2. Wizard towers are "protected" by storages, and therefore can wipeout tier 1 troops trying to take down a storage.
    3. Mortars triangulated and on the outside - helps to prevent barching.
    4. Storages are well spread out and triangulated, as well as wizard towers.
    5. Prevents a 4-5 archer TH snipe while using rest of troops to raid.
    6. Triangulated ADs.
    7. Hog prevention at the top with double GB.
    8. Have to get through multiple defenses to get to any pair of storages.
    9. Decent protection for all storages, not just DE and one other.

    CONS
    1. Vulnerable AD's (although not completely, but still slightly vulnerable).
    2. 2 point defenses are not inside walls.
    3. 2 teslas are used to protect TH.
    4. Mortars are vulnerable.
    5. One X-junction in the middle (right above the CC) leads to 4 storages.


    The possible "strategy" mentioned in the title refers to the slight protection of the townhall, even though this is a farming base. Basically, the reasoning for this is so that attackers can't just drop 3-4 archers on the TH and expect to guarantee a 1 star at least while still trying to raid. In other words, it intimidates people because they'll have to waste a decent chunk of their troops if they want to grab my TH, and then that'll leave them with significantly less troops to actually raid my base with.

    I hope the "strategy" isn't looked down upon as trapping the TH, because that really isn't my goal. I know when I'm farming and I see a free TH, the base is way more appealing than when I have to try to get 50% (which usually isn't too hard either, but still worthwhile to mention). Therefore I figure other people have a similar mentality and so I just countered that a little bit with this design.

    It's been working surprisingly well lately, most people will drop 30-50 archers or something and then leave me with my TH (these can be snipers, but I'm sure some could have been farmers!). Also, even the people who actually try to raid me tend to not do so hot either! I'll post some results if this thread gets any attention. The most I've lost so far is 4 storages (2 gold and 2 elixir) and that was against all lvl 6 troops + both heroes and spells. Another thing to mention is that I've been sitting on 300k+ gold, 300k+ elixir, and 2k+ DE up for grabs for nearly 2 weeks and people still barely attacked me. Plus, I always had 4 defenses upgrading (previously archer towers/cannons, now AD's and teslas).

    Any input would be great, I'm still messing with it a little bit. I leave my 3rd giant bomb away from the structures in order to just save a little on costs. A random giant bomb isn't likely to save my storages in crystal 3 so I just keep the double giant bombs up near the top in case of a hog attack (and these bombs would really only work if they were to attack from the top).

    giant healer, balloon, hog, barch, bam.. i think all can get at least 2* bro..

    Well, many will get 2* because the TH is on the outside. The idea isn't to protect trophies, it's to protect resources!

    I've been raided by giant/healer and giants/wizards (all lvl 6 troops) and I've only lost 2 storages in one raid, and 4 in the other which isn't too bad considering they have both heroes and multiple spells!

    Haven't been raided by balloonion yet, but a hogs attack failed against this base - it got 61% but only 1 gold storage, so technically that's a successful defense for me!

    The whole idea of farming base is to attract the 3 archers sniper. I surrounded my TH with flags and flowers to show the are no teslas in the area.

    Idk about that, all his wizard towers are near his storages. Those are in a great position to zap goblins or other troops trying to steal stool. Like OP said, this is more to protect resources, not to win trophies.

    overall pretty solid base design, but I am not a fan of mortars outside. also, AD is not protected enough for my likes.

    Yes, just like itsclif said, I like having the wiz towers protect the storages! Also, mortars on the outside helps to defend against barch, which is nice as well (even though they're vulnerable).

    I understand that, and snipers will generally be willing to give up an extra 20-30 archers for a nearly free TH.

    HOWEVER, the farmers that don't want to lose trophies will be much more inclined to attack a base when there is a free TH. For example, when I farm, if I see a free TH as well as a lot of loot, I'll just drop 3-4 archers on the free TH, then proceed to loot without worrying about having to achieve 50% (which means I can go straight for storages if that's where the loot is).

    But with this strategy, the farmers who would do what I just mentioned would be deterred from raiding hard because they'll have to use a good chunk of their troops just to get the TH. And therefore they'll have less troops to raid with in the end, which means a higher chance of a successful defense!
