This keeps boiling down to what is acceptable difference between bases. If we have a th10 with every defensive building one level from maximum facing a th10 with everything maxed, is it a fair fight? Sure the guy with the maxed base will have better chance of winning, but I would not still call the fight unfair.
Low trophies in my clan can't participate in wars. So I guess it has some effect.

I've argued in the past that the two common complaints about war - unreasonable matchmaking and excessive dragon spamming - weren't as bad as people were saying.
However over the last couple of weeks both have revealed themselves to be just as bad as people were saying. Matchmaking has gotten almost completely ridiculous, both ways.
Its like wars are either so lopsided in our favor that the other team cannot possibly win, and doesn't even really try, or so lopsided in their favor that there just isn't much point. Case in point in our war today we have a #1 who is a new town hall 9 whose x-bows aren't even finished yet and has max level 8 defenses except the new ones, which are level 2-3ish, a lvl 6 BK and a lvl 2 AQ.
Their #1 is a maxed-but walls TH10. lvl4 xbows, lvl 3 infernos, lvl 8 wiz towers, lvl 12 everything, lego walls, every troop we can see in his camp is max level. Their #2 is a TH9 with lvl 2 xbows high level everything, level 12 heroes, and it doesn't get much better going down. There are a few spots in the middle where we may have a slightly better player, but its a ridiculous mismatch.
We cannot win, no chance, if they actually show up and play their best. They have 2 bases we can't realistically touch and 2 players that should be able to 3 star our top 4. We cannot win if they actually play. So for the next 2 days that means none of us are going to have any fun in Clash of Clans.
And the dragon spamming thing ... its either gotten alot worse or we've just started to encounter it. Last war we ran into a clan that had 7 guys running lvl 3 drags. Some of these guys had lvl 3 wiz and arch, but lvl 3 drags. As if they put every drop of elixir they had into drags and spells. Top to bottom we got hit with lvl 3 drags and 3-4 spells. They were lvl 3 dragging th7s.
At least every other clan that we've faced for the last few weeks is pure mass lvl 3 drags up and down our ranks. Maybe a couple TH7s get level 2 dragged instead. And better at it than clans that have used it in the past have been, as if their whole clan revolves around dragging.
Going against mass drag clans makes war far less interesting and far more tedious than seeing a variety of attacks.
I think clan wars is jumping the shark.
So in the last month, the clan war matching system has not been fair at all: we are either matched to clans that are too strong for us to have any change to win, or matched to clans that are too weak to have any chance to win us. So, literally we know either we are going to crush others or others will crush us, even before starting the war. We hardly had any war that is close. This is not fun.
Agree and our experience went from good (with respect to matchmaking) to exactly like you describe above also about a month ago.
Neither facing a clan so weak they have no chance, a clan with 8 lvl 3 dragon spammers, or a clan so strong you have no chance is really fun. Clan Wars was sooo fun when the system worked well with respect to matchmaking. This has become ridiculous.
Issue existed since clan war was introduced, not last month.
Matchmaking is broken. The result is our active clan (2 wars per week every week) is taking a break from clan wars. We won't participate actively again until SuperCell addresses this problem simply because it isn't fun. Its interesting that we have noticed really screwed up matchmaking in the last month as well. And complaints about matchmaking are becoming common. For SuperCell, losing participation means losing revenue, which should provide all the incentive needed to fix it.
I agree with this totally but pls remember that were always going to get mismatched slightly but it will need work as there often is a huge gap between clans
Also How about this what if in the algorithm they also but clans experience in clan war and also maybe war leagues????
pls give thoughts and expansions of thoughts on this idea
