For certain clans I'm sure war matching is great. However for mine, its been awful. Clans with similar levels to ours must not be common resulting in us always getting unmatched with much higher clans. Our clan levels are about 70-90 with about 3 level 100s. Enemy clans will have 10 level 110+ and majority level 90 ( and we are majority around level 80). This makes it impossible for us to attack their top 10 bases (losing us a potential 10-30 stars), but they can easily attack ours.
    Whats happened

    • LOST 6 WARS IN A ROW BY 40 STARS OR MORE

    • War participation is good. But obviously when we are matched with much higher clans, some people are physically unable to attack as the remaining bases they wouldn't even be able to 1 star.

    • We are an active clan with 8 of us donating 1000+ a season with most donating around 300-800.

    • Always donate good troops to clan castles.

So supercell, you're algorithm is great for some, but its horrible for us. We would rather you spend 6 hours trying to find us an equal match rather than half an hour to find us a definite loss.
I don't mind losing if the clans are evenly matched. I just hate the feeling of looking at the enemy clans, seeing all those level 110+ and knowing that the next 48 hours means failure.

    Petition signed.

Clan war match making is unfair!

We have 11 th10s, 10 with infernos, and 3 new ones (less than one month in th10).

Our opponent has 21 th10s, 19 with infernos, and their top guy has lvl 40 heroes.

    It looked very unfair.

But we won 66 to 51 (35 members)

Many of their th10s sucked at attacking, couldnt even put one star on our th9s. We put 5 two stars against their top 10, while they scored only 1 two star against our top 10. We got a total of 9 three stars, while they managed only 1.

So for all who complain about unfair matches, dont give up too early, dont get intimidated by infernos, fight with your best armies, the other side might actually suck at attacking. Even if you lose in the end, you will still have learnt something, and brought your clan closer.

Let us see both clans. Also, offensive weapons and skills cant be seen in base ability, tho the level of troops factor into matchmaking. Also, if your opponent seems top heavy and their top 5 is better, most likely the rest of your clan is well balanced and should get more stars overall.

Before you say that it is the rest of the clan who balances this inequality let me state the stats of the war.
    my clan has:
3 mid to maxed town hall eights
    1 newly town hall eight
    2 average town hall sevens
1 average to maxed town hall six
3 average to maxed town hall fives

    the opposition has
1 town hall ten with poor level walls, fully maxed defences, mid level heroes(which many people consider the max you should get them to) and fully maxed troops
1 town hall 9 which is mid
one town hall nine which is poorly upgraded
3 town hall eights whose base vary in progression 2 high and 1 poor(just walls)
    1 mid town hall seven
    2 mid town hall six
    1 high town hall five

This led to me believing that there is no need to upgrade any walls. Walls increase your strength so will put you up against higher opponents. This could be a strategy now with people now increasingly use troops that don't have to go though walls ( I.e, hog riders, ballonian, dragon).
the higher power you have in investing in walls is then used by the opposition to upgrade their troops and defences, reducing the need to upgrade the walls on the first place.
You absolutely nailed it. It seems walls carry more weight in matchups than anything else. I maxed TH 7 out, including walls. Since becoming TH8 I've maxed mortars and that's it for defense besides 20 or so walls I upgraded. I'm now one of our highest ranked TH8s even though I've only had enough time to upgrade archers to 5. Drags are still being upgraded.

The TH8s under me have almost all their troops maxed and similar defense. Walls are probably the least important (defensive building) yet it seems to count in matchups the most.

Thats ok we probably wouldn't have any part of you either. lol.

Our clan just lost a war 100-102. It came down to the very last attcks and was a true nail biter. It made our clan stronger as we pulled together to do our best to win. Everyone is pumped up now and are all upgrading heros and troops in preparation for our next war. We have lost wars in the past by more then 20 stars that were true mis-matches. Those wars caused more members to leave the clan or decide to skip the next war. Rather skip those morale destroyers then pretend we could ever win. The strategy I suggested is not for defeat but is a strategy to keep us all together. The defeat is already pre-determined once the mis-match is created so not a strategy to lose, but we can have some control over how we lose.

The challenge with this strategy is that the entire clan must agree that it is a no win match up or you will create friction within the clan. Our clan has lost almost as many wars as we have won and we have yet to try this strategy, but if faced with a completly unwinable match up it is the strategy I would suggest. For example there was a thread where a clan scored a perfect 135 stars in the first hour of the war. If I was on the other side of that match up .....I would still get my 6 stars out of their bottom two players.
ROFL! That has got to be the funniest thing I've ever read in this forum.

The matchmaking is dependant on the maxed out percentage of the bases. (KINDA)
So as unfair as it looks, it's not off by too much.

We have one new TH 9 (Me), around 5 TH 8s that are not even half maxed, and the opponent's have around 7 Maxed TH 8s.

So it's not too unfair though it is a challenge.

Clan Wars has also been very uneven for my clan. I don't know if it's bad luck but we are always paired up against players whose bases generally outmatch ours. Our record is probably 5-20? It's pretty bad.

That can't be just bad luck alone. There may be something more to it than luck perhaps?
