How is leader designated?

Hey there! I'm Leeroy McKlint, leader of Calut II. Recently, a hopper came into our clan, requested troops, and left, joining another clan. I was leader of my clan. Without making anyone else leader, I left and followed him. Another person in our clan was made leader instead automatically. It's confusing why that is? What makes someone become the automatic next leader?

I think its the highest in trophies member gets it, but I'm not sure

The person with the highest rank thats been in the clan the longest gets it.

highest trophy coleader first
if no coleaders, highest elder
if no elders, highest member
by highest i mean trophy count

I thought it went to the person that has been there the longest? Could be wrong but I thought that's how it worked, I didn't think it had anything to do with trophies.

This is what I thought as well. I didn't think trophies had anything to do with it. i thought it was highest rank and longest time in clan with that rank. So, if you had to coleaders ..the one thats been in clan the longest without leaving/visiting would get it.

no its first ordered by highest rank and next by trophies

wiki says this and i can confirm:
If the clan leader leaves without promoting someone else to leader, the highest-ranked (by trophy count) co-leader will automatically become leader. If there are no co-leaders, the highest-ranked elder will take the position, and if there are no elders the highest-ranked normal member in the clan will automatically become leader. If the leader is the only one in the clan when he leaves, the clan will be dissolved.

If you check out my clan, Calut II, the person who became leader was called DerpMonkey. He was the leader before me. Maybe that was why?

Is he highest ranked in terms of trophies or has he been there the longest? If it's the latter the wiki is wrong… didn't think it had anything to do with trophies.
