Rush to Master League - for da Gems

Quick question to the Clashers out there...... (ok maybe not a quick question)

I am about to go to TH-9 (in 2 weeks) and would love to have 5 builders just before this upgrade. I currently have 1,002 gems and it takes 2,000 to buy that 5th builder. Well, getting to Master League will earn you 1,000 gems, but here is my dilemma.

I am currently in Gold III (1407 Trophies) and have fought my way to Crystal II previously. I know there are a few "dry spots" where the loot isn't big and obviously higher up you run into tougher and tougher bases. Even if I have to snipe TH's, I just want to reach Master League, get the gem achievement and then drop back down.

Finally here comes the Questions:

1. Is it a long and difficult fight past Crystal II and I, to reach Master ? (Perhaps Toooo Long ??)
2. I will need a-lot of resources once I hit TH-9, (all the initial upgrades) would I put this at risk trying to fight my way to Master?
3. Maybe I would be better off getting that 5th builder (and reaching Master's) sometime AFTER TH-9?

Just looking for some feedback..... appreciate all responses in advance.

2 weeks is ample time to reach masters and still farm max storages in preparation for th9, but once you hit c2 or so, you're only going to be seeing th10s and strong th9s. Either go for 50% or snipe town halls.
