Dragons take a bit of skill to master like any troops. Anyone can spray them in a line but good players know how to use them properly to go where they want them to go. Don't drop them all at the one time.
I beg to differ. I have seen plenty of mass dragon attacks go horribly wrong, both from my own clan and from others we have faced. Taking out 1 or 2 drags from the lineup to put in some other troops for situation-based attacks is the key to successful dragon raids as well as the choice of spells. Granted you are ALMOST guaranteed 1 star by using all drags just because there's a good chance you can get 50% of the base, but 1 star in wars is pitiful (at least it is in our clan), so a good strategy is needed to get the 3.

Situations like these are almost always user error and not having the ability to understand troop pathing. Yes, there are times where a few drags go of course, but for the most part, you should have a good idea of where drags will go once deployed. Suggest watching your replays and studying drag behavior.

Sorry but I have to completely disagree with OP. Dragons go exactly where I want them to go, and if you do have skill here are man more armies much easier to use that guarantee you more stars when attacking bases other than TH8.
for starters , here are tips
1> Clear out side building from entry point. Dragons attack the closest building to them. So at the start of a battle, you want them to go into the walled area of a base. If you do this, you're pretty much guaranteeing a 2 star. To accomplish this, you drop heroes on one side of their entry point, clan castle on the other and use them to kill junk / trash. If you don't have both heroes, go one dragon less and bring archers. Then drop your dragons. Drop 1 first to make sure it targeting the right building, then drop all.
2> All spells rage. I cannot stress this enough, I crack up laughing when someone attacks a clan mates base with heal spells. The defining attribute about a unit that is both tanky and has a high damage output is that it is extremely slow. If nothing, you want your dragons to reach their target quickly., you can also use rage to control their path since it makes the closest building maybe one that further away due to speed increase
3> the enemy clan castle is your favourite friend: any troop that has no favourite building will always target enemy troops, heroes first. You can use this to your advantage by not luring the clan castle and waiting for the troops to come up. If you have more than one dragon bunched up, they'll make short work of anything in the cc. Normally they fly really close to the th, and then you can just drop a rage and watch them annihilate.
thats it, there are 3 steps to a dragon attack, the lowest skill requirement of anything, even barch farming is harder. Next time you choose to build an expensive army, try to watch YouTube videos of how to use that army and don't just assume you'll face roll every base you hit. My first 5 or so gowiwi / gowipe attacks had the golems and wizards not doing what I wanted because I neglected ai pathing. Doesn't mean the attack is ♥♥♥♥, just that the player is. In future , after blowing attack like that, take screenshots from the replays and post here with "what could I have done better" and you'll find people much more receptive and helpful.
Cheers
OP is a total noob
