What do you want your BK to defend? Put him in range of whatever that might be. I don't think there is a right or wrong place. If you don't like the result of your placement, move him. My BK is a bit pathetic as a defender anyway, he is good to dump outside walls on raids with healer support, but a bit of a pushover on defense, a few good archers or a single air unit and he is out of the fight very quickly. I hope this relative non-answer helps.
(FWIW I'm using a modified poke'ball farming base set up to "protect" my DE. My base is TH7 and I'm @ 2300 trophies)
