Good attack strategy for town hall 8? (war)

Hello, in my clan we have it as a rule to attack enemy bases that are around the same number of yours but while I have been upgrading troop levels it seems I am having a hard time keeping up. There are way more defensive upgrades compared to offensive at town hall 8.

Is there an army comp that when used right can 3 star any town hall 8? If not then what are the best strategies that depend on the situation.

I currently use mass dragons with rage or lighting but find that it's rather unreliable

Just a new TH 9 but while I was an 8 used mostly Hogs.
of course my Dark Drill was maxed and on Boost 24/7.

Even after the giant bomb changes along with the bk being unlurable? I have done hogs before but most bases out there contain many wholes with potential double bombs which makes me doubtful about it. Are they really still reliable?

Yes against th8 you should be able to win bring 3 heal spells just in case. If not using hogs try balloonion

I would not be hogging with L2 Hogs those things turn into freaking bacon.

I don't recon you use hogs till they are level 4. I assume your dragons are level 2 or 3 so that would be a good attack. Almost guaranteed a 2 star. Use rages or heal, with wizzes in cc.

dragons if you have at least level 2 and level 4 lightning spells. 3 lightnings take out one mid area air defense. use lvl 6 balloon or level 3+ hogs as your cc troops. they can take out an air defense if there is air defense placed in outter defense circle. otherwise bring one more dragon.

I have been using 9 lvl 3 drags and 9 lvl 5 balloons in war for a while now. It works great on bases designed for hog raids. 2 rage 1 heal. Deploy drags first then put down the balloons in a line to take out the defenses. The drags then clean everything up. Make sure to use spells when the air d is targeting the troops. Hope this helps
