end of th9 gold/elixir building upgrades, what should I do now?

I'm th9, close to maxing my defenses. I just have a few gold building upgrades and a few elixir troop upgrades left. I decided not to upgrade walls at all when I got to Th9 and just focus on defenses. So I have less than half skull walls.

I didn't upgrade walls because I don't raid consecutively, nor do I boost barracks. So I never have extra gold for walls. I think this worked well early because I rarely got attacked, which allowed me to raid once and then raid again an hour or 2 later without worrying about losing a shield or losing all the resources I just gained. At 1700-1800 players see level 3 xbows and hit next pretty quickly regardless of not having all skull walls. And if they don't realize its level 3 xbows, they get mauled by them pretty quickly. This allowed me to keep 5 builders busy 24/7.

At 2000+ now I've noticed I get attacked more and although I usually lose less than half my resources because my defenses are pretty strong, its becoming inefficient for me. This might be the range where stronger walls are more important. Upgrades are really expensive now too so its getting harder to keep builders busy.

So I'm not sure what I'm going to do now. I don't really want to have workers idle for the first time. I don't want to upgrade to th10 (I do but I don't want the loot penalty). I don't want to upgrade heroes as I like using them for Wars. I don't want to farm walls as that sounds pretty boring, and would mean idle workers.

I'm also afraid that I will be wasting elixir soon (filled storages). I try to make really expensive armies, but I think soon, that will not be enough.

What would you do? Here are some of the options I believe I have.

    1. Drop to 1700-1900 and farm walls and keep 4-5 builders idle. Elixir will be wasted and will builder time.
    2. Jump to 2XXX? To farm DE and gold. Keep 2 builders busy upgrading heroes only. And Farm walls. This will force me to use expensive armies so my elixir wont be wasted. I'll also get attacked more, but I shouldn't have any gold to be stolen.
    3. Upgrade to th10 and keep hopefully 3+ builders busy with new elixir and gold upgrades.

The main priority for me is keeping builders busy. But I really don't want to jump to th10.

being a fairly new th9 myself, i think you made the mistake when you didnt worry about walls and just farmed those defences, anyway, if your loot relies more on th8, you should DEFINITLY stay, but if u can farm th9 ppl, go to th10.
    Sorry for bad english

    Option 2

Although it may seem boring and a bit of a waste of builder time, doing heroes and walls is a smart investment. With new update, heroes are a strong defense tower now. Walls are also great for intimidation, much like your xbows. It's your village though, so do whatever will make your gaming experience best man.

Go up in trophies for DE and gold. Do walls and heroes. Leave TH outside for snipers and free shield. Congrats on maxing defenses tho.

I like to mix it up and have fun by testing different base designs as well. Don't get bored! lol

I'll have maxed out all my buildings/traps for TH9 come this tuesday. =)

All of my walls are lvl 8 (did that at TH8) and I have 24 lvl 9 walls.

I'm going to stick around for a while at TH 9.

I have a few more lab upgrades to do, heroes to keep upgrading, and walls.... those walls. =/

I say I'll stay until my walls are all lvl 9, but we'll see how it goes.

But at least get all your walls up to lvl 8 before moving on.

I laugh at TH 9 and 10 bases with purple walls.

I feel you, in the same spot. I have two archer towers left to upgrade and the update gave us lvl6 small bombs. I decided to stay at TH9 till i get my walls up. Doing legos now and depending on how things go might do lavas.

Its kind of fun mixing it up and trying new armies, building bases and testing them out in differnt ranges. I wouldnt worry about idle builders. Have fun developing your attacking at this stage. When you need elixer when you do move to Th10 you might not want to try perfecting GOWIPE or GOWIWI, ect . . . . .

i have completely maxed defenses, all skulls, lvl 16 AQ / 15 BK. will be sticking around at TH9 until heroes are at least lvl 20 and i have half legos.

but it's personal preference really... if you get bored grinding for walls you might be better uging to TH10 so you can have the new toys
