Hog Rider Strategy

Hello all,

I recently dedicated my time to save up a ton of Dark Elixir in order to upgrade my Hog Riders to lvl 5, mainly because they are very strong and effective. However, after the most recent update, the old ways of using these units have changed due to the fact that you cant lure the heroes anymore.

So now im thinking, will these lvl 5 hogs turn out to be useless, or will I have to seek a new strategy? If you know a new, proper way to use hog riders after the update, please do let me know.

i also js got my hogs to lvl5. and it bis really pathetic. i feel like i js wasted a ton of de for nothin. the update with king n queen is ok and justifiable. but wat bout increaseing the bomb damage to hogs! tht is ♥♥♥♥♥ing...
u cant jus decrease the capabilities of an existing unit. all the players who use it feel ♥♥♥♥♥ed!

in the last clan war i jus lost 32 lvl5 hogs to 2 giant bombs placed adjusent near a def.. guess all will go back to loons now...

They definitely take more skill to use now but they are still very strong. The people that I have seen use them effectively have combined them with other units rather than the old place them all in one place and heal along the way. People will come up with new strategies for them.

Go easy on supercell and stop putting little hearts! When hogs were strong every one told supercell to nerf them and now they want supercell to buff them

Perhaps using air units with the hogs should be a good strat. Still not too sure about how to use them effectively.

For farming, you can use Hog/Healer strategy, mainly targeting TH8s and TH9s at 1700-200 Trophy Range. Lots of juicy bases out there and you don't have to skip on good loot if they are on storages. I use 24-20 Hogs with 4 Healers and rest are a mix of Barbarians and Archers. I sometime add in a few wizards when feeling adventurous. It only takes about 20 minutes, which is same with Barch but you can go in for a lot harder bases. You don't really need spells but i carry 1 lighting(for CC troops) and 3 heals if my healers get seperated from my hogs. 4 healers is for me the best cause there is a much lesser chance for all of your healers to die than the other combos. Also 4 is the amount of regular barracks you have, so it's easier to queue up. Look for bases that preferably has no heroes alive and avoid 2x4 spaces inside the base. Good luck!

As mentioned above, you will do fine if you have healers alongside your hogs.

It can work if you can avoid the Giant Bombs and distract CC/Heroes whilst Hogs get to work.
