My shield was about to run out so I figured I'd do a quick attack at work a few minutes ago.
I had 5 rage and BK up, so I was feeling a little brave. I normally won't mess with IT's and I would have likely skipped this guy on a normal farming night. It does show how strong BAM can be when you throw in some rage spells and a Dragon though (thanks Inkhands for the dragon)

Wow! Nice vids!! I just watched the collector raid on page 5 i think and I was hangin around in that same range and it took me about 50-60 searches to find 100K+ loot! Sometimes there would be an occasional 150+K raid but that was about it. Did he just look for a long time or did come up like right away?!? Well, anyway my point is i didn't find anything like that in the 2-3 days i was at ~1600-1640 trophies. Was i too low in that range or was i just having some bad luck?? Anyway nice videos btw!

Last night my tablet dinged to let me know that Barefury's (TH7) shield was about to run out so I figured I'd do a quick BARCH attack on him.
He's only at 1340 trophies and the first base he was presented with was a premie TH9 that had full collectors and was showing 333k/385k. I got all of it. There's no chance I'm going to be farming down in the 1300 range with my TH10, so sometimes it is just crazy weird luck.
Loot is always a moving target and I think that's why people get so frustrated at times. You can post on the forums asking where to get loot as a TH8 and I can post a video of insane loot at 1650 and then you go there and it's horrible.
That's why I try to focus on optimizing my efficiency as best I can with whatever loot is being offered for the day/time. If I'm in a zone that's just bad I'll look at TH's being presented to me to see if they're at or one low below my level and adjust accordingly.
There's times when I"m getting all TH9 and TH10 bases presented to me but they're only showing 20-30k gold over and over. So, this isn't a loot penalty problem it's more of a "zone" problem in that there's a lot of players in this range that are spending their gold for whatever reason. So, I'll still move up or down in trophy's to see if 50-100 trophy's up or down is better. It takes time and it's not a perfect science for sure.
I remember as a TH9 I would go anywhere from 1500 all the way to 1900 at times looking for that "sweet spot"

I just wanted to add that I have my BK in the outer ring right now while he's upgrading (same with queen) and pull in that bottom AT into the core (the one that's outside the base) if I have both heroes upgrading. I don't ever put any defensive units in the 2nd level of the ring where all the storages/collectors are, as that trips the AI to seek out the core defenses after they take them out. If I have both heroes up and I end up with extra defensive buildings I'll usually put them on the bottom side, as that is where I get most of the attacks from anyway.Here's a screenshot of his. with everything.
When everybody is up and running I have the BK and AQ on opposite sides of the DE storage and CC/AT on the other sides, with xbows and ADs staying put, and that elixir storage replacing the BK altar in the ring. If I'm upgrading an AD I make sure it's always one of the ones in the ring and not the core. Keeping the core stocked with the strongest buildings makes it really hard for anyone to pass through with balloonion/dragon and prevents the 3 star against hogs/giants if they wipe out the perimeter buildings.

I got this base up and running - no upgrades to do except BK and AQ so that's not a problem. I WAS wondering about the outer AD's though...they are two squares from the outer wall and one space from the moat, does that count as being in the "2nd level of the ring where all the storages/collectors are?" I also put the extra AT in the center core (2 total) with CC in center - do you know if that will affect anything in the negative?

Just registered to thank you for this guide!!! I am using barb and arch lvl 5 and minions lvl 2 at th8 and in my first try got 3m in two hours, which is at least double my usual rate. I especially appreciate the section on knowing where the gold is. I've read a lot about farming but this really set it out with clarity and in a way that made sense to me. So well done. My next upgrade will be boosting the minions to take it to the next step.
