Make sure you read and understand the "trophy range to farm in" and the "nexting and base selection" sections.
There is obviously loot out there, it's just a matter of finding the best place to get the most loot that you can get to.
Any one of us can go up to Crystal II or I and above and see huge loot on practically every other base, but it's a lot more challenging to get to so it requires a longer build army.
We can also drop down to Gold II or III as a TH10 and practically 100% every other base we see with BAM, but there's no loot to be found because of the loot penalty.
So, it's about finding that balanced zone that's the best of both worlds. Enough loot to keep going, but easy enough to get to with a fast build army.
The other part is to level set your expectations to what's being offered. I use a guide of searching for a 200k+ base for 2 minutes because that's what I consider a really good base. I give myself 2 minutes because I'm going to either search for 2 minutes or sit and wait for my next army for 2 minutes so might as well use the time to increase my chances of hitting a big one. Some nights I almost never see a 200k base and hit 100k - 150k bases for two hours straight and other nights I see nothing but 200k+ bases.
I still feel good about my farming no matter what the loot is doing because I know I've optimized my gph as much as I can for that particular evening. Some evening's it's insane and loot is everywhere, but other nights it's really low.
The important thing is to recognize it and adapt. If you are playing during a crappy loot night and still planning to only hit a 200k base, you can next 500 times and never find one or you can hit a 100k base every 4 minutes and still make steady gains.

lol, yeah i wish i would find some 150k bases..but my average is like 30 to 70k max all the time..currently in C3 at 2004trophies..searched another 30minutes..so bad atm

What trophy range is good for a town hall 8. I have level 4 rage and level 2 minions. Barbs and archers are 5. I'll be taking minions to 3 next.

I will consider upgrading my 7th gold mine a little earlier...
One suggestion for your consideration:
Did you ever test raiding in different time zones? I have the perception that certain times of the day are better than others.
And weekdays are better than weekends in my mind.

Yes, i did. Im a good farmer till i upgraded to th 10..im at 1.8b GG and now no more loot..yeah weekends are bad as it seem..
I'm sure it's a moving target, but my son who I posted the CCLE video a page or so back of was crushing it in the 1600 range the past couple weeks.
He'd be sitting in the living room across form me searching for DE because he was maxed on Gold/Elixir and would yell out every time he saw a collector raid. One time he saw a bunch of them in a row with over 200k gold. Obviously that's not normal, but it seems to be pretty hot in that zone the last week or so.
I find that really surprising. You can see the kind of bases I've been hitting because all of the video's I've posted in this thread were within the last week. I think the BAM one is the oldest from a week ago.
When I do find a really bad rut, I try to work my way out of it by dropping or raising trophy's. It does happen, but they don't stick around forever.
For me, its usually no loot in the morning and loot bonanza in the evening.
For example on monday, I made zip in the morning, but 3m gold after 4pm of my time.
