Everyone in my clan is posting replays of being crushed, ranging from league gold I to silver II. Is sniping dead? If you'd like, I can provide pictures of the replays. I've had 3 attacks in a row without a snipe or with a snipe and assault on my base, including my first time being three-starred in weeks.

In G1 I tend to be sniped regularly, though I do get the occasional TH10 down there, wall or hero farming, who rolls me. My fault for sitting on 170k DE.

This thread is obviously stupid. Sniping will never die. If you and your clanmates are getting steamrolled, then you're out of your class, league-wise. I'm a TH 10 who stays between crystal and gold, and I get sniped like 10 times daily, whether I have massive loot or not.
I see sniping as a no lose gamble. Even if I screw up the raid I can still win the trophies by throwing a couple of archers at the exposed town hall.
Lets put it this way. There are two types of people
1) One that is trophy pushing [want trophies only, doesn't care resources]
2) One that is farming [wants money, not too cared about trophies]
It is really dependent on the player that is attacking say YOU.
Lets say you're a completely TH7 with maxed storages completely [Gold/Dark/Elixir maxed]
You put your Town Hall outside
You have to consider three situations:
1) The person will snipe your base and leave you alone [free shield this case]
2) The person will snipe your town hall and proceed to destroy your whole base getting the loot. [free shield in this case, with a significant loss]
3) The person can be a pain in the backside, rob your resources and quit at 39%. I've seen some like this.
1) will occur if the guy is weak in terms of offense for your base and doesn't think he can get any further in. He will then snipe, take a few trophies and go to search for another player. This considered a win. He is probably just sniping trophies to get back on track to where he was previously in terms of cups
2 and 3 however is consider a huge loss and happening more often. Ever since they changed the loot system, [200k to 250k for TH7s] they become a viable target nowadays apart just collector raids.
Trophy hunters and farmers will fall into this category.
It's a gamble, you might get lucky and get hit by type 1 player. or unlucky and be hit by type 2/3 player. Again is all about luck and who finds you.
I am in Master 2 as a TH10 and I still leave my town hall outside. 90% of the time i get sniped. The other 10% tried to go for my resources or 50% 2 star and still failed. Hehehe
