Here is my current farming setup for TH8. I've come to the conclusion that there really isn't a way to defend against an all out attack from a skilled TH8/9 player. The best you can do is make an attack on your base look as annoying as possible so that ppl are more likely to hit the next button. This seems to be best accomplished when storages, wiz towers, and mortars are all kept separate from each other(in their own respective compartments) while providing decent overlapping splash for the majority of your base. Since the wall breaker AI update, all egg crate/single egg and or vault type designs are dead (in my opinion^^). I even see dollar signs when attacking a TH9 vault style base. 2 well placed lightning spells and 10-14 wallbreakers with a typical farming army can pretty much get me to where I need to be. Sure, your x-bows will mow me down, but not before I crack that egg wide open and my goblins are cackling away while stealing your gold and going down in a blaze of glory from level 7 mortar fire. If your gold is separate, I don't give pressing the next button much thought, well, if you are a TH9 that is
This base hasn't been tested yet, mostly because I think it is too annoying to attack. I'm sure someone will tear me a new one sooner or later, so any comments/suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Here are a few of the previous TH8 designs I have used. I've probably used at least 10 designs from the design thread with varying levels of success over the past few weeks. I won't call anyone out, but I will say that there are several people severely over-estimating/misrepresenting the effectiveness of their designs.
Before the additional 25 walls were added.
Wish I had taken screen captures of more of my TH8 designs to share, but this is all I have at the moment. Hope it helps those of you out there looking for a bit of inspiration or something to try out.
Of all the designs I tried out, this one, oddly enough, got the best results. It isn't pretty, but it worked really well and people rarely made off with much. But that was before the latest update (minions and then walls), so I have no idea how it would hold up now. Still, I was a huge fan of this base, though I'm not sure who to give credit to. Maybe Pipa?
