Should I cancel my TH upgrade? (TH8 --> TH9)

You're absolutely right and I would do the same. If he had full storages. Basically all his defense upgrades, aside from the xbows, are very cheap and doesn't require him to have anything near full storages.

Anyways.. I'm bored and in a good mood, so let me give you guys a long and boring explanation...

Being a premmie is only horrible when you have heavily under leveled offense next to low level defenses. A base with low level defense, but maxed troops can do perfectly fine. Although having things maxed would make things easier. But that's often not most efficient.

Now let's talk a bit about playstyle. There are basically two extremes in playstyle. A defensive playstyle and an offensive one. The defense playstyle is often used by less active players and premmies who find themselves unable to farm (often due to weak offenses). These players rely on collectors for income and the process is slow and tedious. In order to make this playstyle "work", a strong defense is needed to be able to keep the resources. Which ironically enough, is not what the premmies have.
The second playstyle is offense. An active farmer attacks many times a day and attacking for loot is his/her main source of income. In the right league, the offensive player can attack many times before even getting attacked once for his/her loot. Furthermore, the practice of leaving the TH outside for snipers prevents many potential attempts on the resources. In this case, having a strong offense outweights having maxed defenses by far!

Having seen his walls in contrast to the state of the rest of his base, makes me believe he is the offensive type of player. A fairly successful one too. He has his offenses maxed and that will only get much stronger at TH9, and that makes it very likely that he will have no problem farming for his upgrades at th9.

There red is one thing I find odd though... Where is your 4th builder?

too cheap to buy one and I spend all my gems on boosting barracks or spell factory or heroes when I have enough

my focus is entirely offense so what I'll do instead is..
(this is all assuming i have full storages)
1. get aq as she is a big gamechanger
2. get new storages and leave them at lvl1
3. get all new walls and spend about 800k on walls then upgrade cc (leaving 200k for nexting)
4. upgrade the camps
5. once im done with the camps, spell factory is next
6. lab

The worst part about being a th9, in my opinion, are the th10s. They completely destroy you and take all your money. Personally, I voted to cancel, but if you can be active enough to spend all your gold/de before a th10 gets it, you will be fine. Loot at th9 is OK, but th8 loot is way better. I went up to th9 without maxing my archer tower and barb king, and I'm doing great.

If you are active and finish walls faster than defenses then do whatever you want. Honestly it doesn't really matter. I finished lv 8 walls too fast and went up, as long as your splash is maxed you are all good (I had a mix of th 6 and 7 defenses aside from splash). lv 6 giants can kill you, but to get started you will be barching in gold 1-2 till you are established so most of the time you are going to get sniped.

Go ahead to TH9. TH9 is a lot more fun than TH8.
Ofcourse you would have to spend more time on TH9 though which is fair.

Lvl 6 troops, 220 camp space with tons of TH8s to raid is a wonderful experience
Loot wise, imo, TH9 is better than TH8

Cancel and just finish th8. The loot penalty is not as harsh as it is at th9. I'm starting my th9 upgrades soon as a max th8.
