I'm not sure I agree with your definition to be honest, personally making a significant NET profit is clearly farming for resources irrespective of the amount spent.

I agree with many of the other posters in this thread. Farming for elixir is easy in the 14-1700 trophy range. I have successfully farmed enough elixir for my lab upgrade, giants, archers, and barbs without any problems. Im seeing bigger elixir numbers than gold in matchmaking,I can't get rid of the stuff!

Farming is simply focusing on resources instead of trophies.

People need to quit redefining the term to mean something it is not.

When I was a th8, I had the same quality problem and when I got to th9, it was like a whole new world with not such an abundance of farming options. Trust me, you will see when you get leveled up.

I feel like my army is as efficient as can be. I use 8-12 level 5 wb, 40 level 5 barbs, sometimes 30 level 5 archers and the rest level 5 goblins.

Your problem is you are using too many goblins. You should add some giants to the mix.

I have done giants, archers, barbs to lvl6. now doing dragons (lvl2 done, a week to lvl3)

I have a trick. its actually a focus thing. read on
If you concentrate to collect/farm elixir and forget gold, its a lot easier. I did this with my lvl5 troops, so that was not easy then. I targeted base with 200k plus elixir and collected everything, even with spells. you have to find a good range, stick to that and farm a lot. use an army with low cost, upto 60k elixir. its possible, believe me.
dont forget to spot sleepy builders and abandoned bases for free elixir. good luck

I farmed the elixer for all four of them, and in 2 days my level 6 archer upgrade will be completed.

Then I'll have maxed every troop , without a single gem.

No. It is still farming. It might be farming inefficiently or poorly, but it is still farming nonetheless.
