Spy prevention --> allow only elders to see war bases with traps

I've noticed that before each war a very quiet new person will arrive that we didn't recruit.

Person usually doesn't say anything, then leaves after war is over. This has happened several times now. They don't donate or talk. I believe what is happening is they are someone in our opponents clan who has multiple accounts and uses it to "spy" on our clan, to see where the traps are.

I noticed in a few battles it's as if they knew exactly where the bombs were to set them off with a barb or minion. Now that makes sense.

    Solution :

Only elders or members who are actually in the war should be able to see the war bases, or maybe just the base and not the trap locations.

This would at least give leaders the ability to manage these spies that show up curiously before the war.

    Smart

I like it, although it doesn't happen much, this would solve it.
And really, the only people that would complain about this being implemented are the "spies."

I see it as a counterintelligence capability to restrict someone viewing sensitive information about the war.

If you elder someone, it means you have "trusted" them. So therefore if they are a spy, they get the goods.

Restricting the scout mode and trap locations to members involved in the war would eliminate spying. It's just a matter of whether SuperCell sees the ability to spy as akin to real war or see it in the context of a game in which it's like counting cards in vegas. (They'll toss you out, haha)

I know many say "it's war", and I would be ok if the ability remained. So long as you gave us the ability to better manage new people that show up.

    Right now, it's :
    a) boot or not boot call regarding each new member by leaders
    b) lock the clan to invite until war is over.

Both work, but lack flexibility in dealing with the situation without a "Larry David" stare.

Agreed, but what about members just looking at normal bases? they tend to be the same or very similar to the war base

I think the solution is simple - be choosy with who you let in to your clan. Our clan is set to invite only, so we screen anyone that requests to join if we don't know them.

Well, before the split of war base and ability to edit independently, I think it would be a bigger problem.

But most people in our clan have very different war and regular bases, since resources are being used as a buffer and not something you want to protect with walls etc. So to some degree it's moot because they are still not certain. Currently, they can be certain! haha

EASY ANSWER. CLOSE the clan during war prep.

    Right, that's what we do.

However, the suggestion is for more flexibility so that you can continue to recruit and remain protected against spies.

I noted in my original post that your answer was a currently used option.

But also , closing clan during war prep is not enough. You can still see bombs/traps after war starts if you are in the clan. You need to close it through the whole war.

I don't see this as some MUST HAVE thing. Just would add more flexibility to manage the situation.
