Duh, there are obviously no refunds. They'll just shut down the servers, we won't get to play, and we'll lose all our money. Tons of people will rage and freak out. SC won't care, though, their sites will be set on a new money-making game. No offense, but SC, like all other companies, loves money. If something is not very profitable anymore, trash it.
It's like buying a house and the next day a typhoon hits your town and everything is gone.
Yes bad luck, but God (SC) reserves the right to land a typhoon (shut down servers) whenever he wants.

I agree with what most people posted here. The point is, if you want to spend real money on the game, why not? Consider it as an entertainment cost, some people go to clubs and spend hundreds of dollars on drinks and girls on a single night, and after the night's over, what have they got? A night one night stand, a really nasty hang over, and perhaps a good time. Basically, it'd also be intangible. Nothing is permanent OP, you have to learn to accept that. Now, if you have the money to spare for the game, I mean, why not? Granted that you already have saved some for a rainy day, I do not see anything wrong with rewarding yourself with some goodies. Now, these goodies might not be the same for all of us, one might want gems in clash, another might want a nice new mouse. It varies. Bottomline, you won't be able to take any of those with you when you pass on. Enjoy life. Do what entertains you without fear of judgement AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT HURTING ANYONE IN ANYWAY.

This thread has confused me...
ALL time spent playing is effectively wasted - you cant really count it as doing something constructive (either personally or for society) and ALL money spent is wasted, no matter what the ultimate outcome is!
I think anyone that has spend $10k+ on building a pretend village on a small screen should be worried more about their goals in life than whether the game will eventually end.
If you're worried about the what if's of time and money spent in a game then I'd suggest not playing and getting out into the world instead.

Virtual "Stuff" is big business. I read an article earlier this year where some fool spent $60K+ in actual money to buy a pretend space ship that got shot down in 15 minutes. Fancy expensive pretend space ship - gone. Money - gone.
Me personally, I don't care if people spend lots of money on this game, buying gems and getting high level bases by paying real money for them. That keeps the game free for everyone else.
But you are insane if you think that you will ever see 1 cent, pound, euro or whatever you spend on pretend stuff back in your bank account (or mom's and dad's) ever.
When you did will you get back all the money you spent? No. When you die did you waste all that money for nothing? No. When you die will you still be able to live (and I mean actually live, not go to Heaven or the other, or any afterlife you believe in)? No. Nothing lasts forever OP, except Nokia phones, that is the only exception.![]()
