I have waited and not double tapped when the visitors show the gift just to see what would happen. If you wait a few seconds, everything will fly up on its own. The double tap speeds things along.

I just saw this too in my town and thought it was an extra. Because I read what happened to you, I went to check in my barn and had 2 instead of three. Yeah, when I think about it, the first time you tap and the visitor with the gift it shows a map without numbers, then when you tap again the XPs, coins and +1EMimage go flying up. I wish SC could confirm this.

The item seen floating up on your screen with the word 'Bonus' is just the animation of your visitors gift being added to your barn. It is not an extra item.

I've since received another 2 maps 🎉🎉🎉 and paying more attention this time, the little animation has a +1 at the side of it, which obviously means... We get 1 map / screw ect . I reckon they'll be a few other folk thinking that their actually getting 2. Never mind one is better than none 😄

The picture of the item with the word "bonus" that floats up to the top of the screen is not an extra reward. It is merely the animation of the reward the visitor gave you "travelling" to your barn.

Well, just like any other dropped items in the game, its random. You can go ages without getting a certain item and then wham! All of a sudden you get three in a short space of time.
