Personally, it took me a long time to save up the 10k DE for that guy....probably because i really never focused on him too much. But just because you are a certain level doesnt mean thats when you should get the king...
I m a gem jogger so I never used my gems so by time I got to th7. And I had 2k DE I just used 400+ gems and bought the dark elixir, I've learned not to be a gem hogger now
As they said, you have to be town hall 7. When you get there, be sure to farm around 1600 trophies, because the dark elixir is good up there. Good luck
