Why all replays are gone after MB?

Can someone explain to me why all replays are gone after Maintenance Break??
Is it so hard to keep those on the server while doing a MB?

Same reason you lose data when you power down your home computer. It's temporary, servers are rebooted and poof!

Not exactly the same but similar.

Does SC remove every inactive village? Read this thread.

Maybe because they want to keep the servers clean.

I cant believe that all replays are in the memory of the server... Must be written to a disk

It is because CoC doesn't actually save the replay as a video but as positions and times, it saves the location a troop is placed and at what moment. When you replay the video, you're not watching a record but a simulation of a real battle that is identical to the original. What if during the maintenace SC released some AI improvements or altered troops' or buildings' stats? The replay would differ from the original battle so SC automatically deletes all replays to avoid this.

It seems reasonable however maintenance breaks are for server improvements and do not change anything client side so how would they change AI or stats without updating the client? Fairly certain my client does not query the server every time I complete an action or do damage to a structure. This statement seems to be true for updates but how does it explain maintenance?
