Agreed. Making your own original design is much better because if you successfully make a good base, since it is unknown how to attack it, people who do attack it will struggle unlike if they were attacking a mainstream base

The TTP is a great example. When it was "released", it was one of the best TH8 layouts in the game, if not the best. But it got a huge hype, everyone, including Chief Pat, started using it and it was everywhere. People found weak points in the base and now everyone knows how to beat it.
Try to make your own base first. Look at some of the popular bases to get ideas if needed.

You are a rushed TH9. He hasn't even gotten close to maxing TH8 so you must be an ultra-premmie TH9. You must not upgrade to TH10 as the loot penalty will be severe. The most important building isn't the Town Hall (to most peoples' surprise). It is a good strategy to upgrade all of your defenses to the maximum level before upgrading the Town Hall.

Of course town halls are the most important building! Where would villagers run to when a village gets th sniped??

If you can't make your own base, use base designs made by forum users, you can usually rely on them better than those "best" bases you get by just googling.

Exactly why i never link my base on here or to anyone. I dont want it becoming 'figured out' and be easily beaten all the time.

Sorry, but if you're base isn't maxed out it is just you're underupgraded.
If a town hall above you (or two or three ) attacks you then it's their troop upgrades and plain superiority (which I know from TH10 attacks against me, I'm a TH8.)
