HAIL BEARS!
Have you heard about the new update?
One new troop (which costs too much DE for the most of us tho).
I am excited about the new league- and lootsystem!
It's gonna hurt the farmers (Jorg) quiet much.
So what do you think about it?

This evening's donation count has taken place and the findings are as follows:
Jorg 1880 MsPlumr 1652 Megaaan 1337 Leech 1226 Azuhma 1128 mayana 70 1059 Deblet 943 bizron 836 Andrew 781 ashleyped7 761 CookleDo 722 Sidlon 712 Acewyatt19 687 Isaac 637 Tanys 616 DP New 561 shawn 543 Matchstickx 487 squire 480 Buttnutz 461 Phoenix 451 Spechi 450 Gobchopper 434 angels4 427 spoon New 424 O'Hammill 400 suneloon 397 boomster9 355 Bob Fossil 354 ceemonstuh 353 cdawg 328 jinhua 312 Mattluca 309 Dayala 283 Pitchbl4ck 275 fidanzal 272 koolprince14 259 JasonP520 246 123bigboo 241 mjmalino 239 John 237 Kymarr 221 Quasihobo 200 TK 174 Prince Noo 144 Optophobe New 110 Mr Skip New 105 AJ New 16
Awesome donations people!! 6 over 1000, excellent work BEARS!!
Now for business, those under 200:
TK 174 Prince Noo 144 Optophobe New 110 Mr Skip New 105 AJ New 16
Now from those only leaves two members, TK and Prince Noo. Both members have been relatively active but have failed to meet the donation standard, Tk tried hard this evening but alas failed in his quest, however has expressed his desire to remain within the bear empire. The guardian recommendation is therefore that TK is requested to move to Riverbears in the first instance (pending Riverbears change in donation requirements then a move to icebears would be appropriate). As for Prince Noo, who has also come close, it is the guardian recommendation that Prince Noo relocates to an alternate Bear clan (Icebears).
One further note:
We have found ourselves 'helping' members this week try to attain the 200 donation requirement - I thank the Cavebears for their support in this but please note this is not a regular feature and is not to be expected, 200 troops per week is the required standard and it is up to you to achieve this, otherwise perhaps the Cave is not the place for you .....
Alrighty then!
For the next three weeks, I will be hibernating - on a loooong vacation with iffy internet access. I will make appearances as much as possible but it is likely that I will be entirely absent for days at a time. The week of April 21st I will come out of hibernation, swinging my axe mightily with all of my pent-up viking skills!
... I have got a supercomputer that can run an endless loop in less than 1 millisec.
... and I use it exclusively to run a web-brouser, because my quad-core 4GHz/16GB-ultrabook
with the high-end gaming graphics accelerator is at full CPU-load with word processing.
... unless I am using dice and a few sheets of paper to do some real fantasy role playing ("DSA")
Cavebears,
I'm afraid I am going to have to be the next one to hibernate.
I said before that life has been demanding of late and it's not getting any better any time soon.
This made me decide to stop playing for a while, I need all the time I can get for the rest of april.
I will be dropping by in chat today/tomorrow to say my goodbyes
Take care

I have been working this week. It is only for this week, doing demo work in a auto plant, capping off water lines and such. I am working nights, getting home at one thirty. Trying to get ipad away from grand kids in the day. Any I am hopping in and out. See you all in the cave. May Thor guide you in all your battles.
I too will be unavailable from end of thursday until at least tuesday, if anyone needs me, use the batphone!
Hello vikings,
Since my giants finally have level5 they constantly get drawn into all kinds of weird quarrels with other vikings.
You might remember my dispute with Matchstickx (which was resolved in true viking fashion by Match winning an epic duel,
where he knocked me out with the 3rd empty barrel that he threw at me)
As I am currently sitting behind a very convenient shield I have time to tell you about the latest dispute
we got in:
Another viking giant claimed:
"I am twice as strong, I can throw my axe twice as fast,
so I kill my opponents in half the time, getting rich twice as fast"
Regardless of whether he actually is twice as strong my scholars argued that his reasoning is completely
flawed anyway.... and of course I will share our theoretical considerations with you:
1) Being "twice as strong" is probably supposed to mean that his arm can exert a force twice that
of my guy. That would indeed mean that he would axcellerate the axe twice as strongly.
BUT the length of his arm is not any longer, so his faster axe will be released after a shorter time - when
his arm is fully extended.
His stronger accelatation for a reduced amount of time translates to a subpropoportinal growth in
max velocity with growing strength.
2) All of these guys are really strong and their axes fly really fast, hence relativistic effects are not to be neglected
and the mass increase will dampen the velocity increase, again making it subproportional.
3) If this guy really achieves double max velocity of his thrown axe then it will be more affected by
atmospehic drag, which increases with velocity squared, so the drag will be quadruple initially!
Unless his target is really close his initially higher speed of the axe will decay more quickly with distance.
4) Also the conclusion that double speed of the axe makes double damage would be incorrect, because
the damage inflicted is likely propoportional to the kinetic energy deposited by the axe into the targets face,
being consumed by the (likely lethal) deformation work on this poor guys skull.
Energy however scales quadratically with speed, not linearly.
5) Assuming these guys actually do double damage (a mathematically grossly oversimplified assumption) that means...
... not much, because the military effect in reality is quantized : You kill a guy in CoC with 1, 2,3...n hits
with n being a natural number. Whether you see any net effect depends on your opponent.
If you are a giant and beat upon a lvl2 goblin for example then ANY giant (lvl3,4,5 or 6) will kill the goblin in
one shot - there would be no point in being stronger. (different of course if you smash into a lvl 9 wall).
Back to this mans original statement:
making double damage means beating your opponent in 50%-100% of original time, not necessarily "half"
... againt output subproportional to input.
6) Does this mean you get richer twice as fast?
Well, that depends a lot on what your limiting factor is ! (theory of constraints)
... If you just cant find any better loot then it is of minor relevance how fast you can 3-star someone :-)
... if your giants (regardless how strong) survive being grilled by 2 wiz towers only when supported by a healer
then you are not making more than 1 such attack in 20 minutes regardless of your giants strength.
However: If (given your stronger giants) you can do some attacks without healer or with less giants than before
then your frequency of attacks can go up.
Also you could possibly tackle tougher opponents with higher loot (the correlation between
defensive strength and loot is weak however)
but for that you need not only be stronger but also more flexible, clever and aggressive as a commander.
Somehow the "stong guy" who can throw the axe so fast had no interest in these thoughts to we
decided to get drunk together.

Hail bears!
As you may or may not have noticed, I have not been as active as I once was... I have been VERY busy at work and with family, so I have not had as much time to play as I had grown used to. I had actually come here to leave the clan (hopefully temporarily), but just saw the new option to hibernate. So, pending approval, of course, I would like to hibernate as well. I will check in to donate when I can, but will not be as active in chat. Let me know what the grand council decides.
HAIL!
Took me a while, but I am now registered on the forum. Had to use Firefox instead of IE.
