Skal!
Hail fellow bears!
You have likely observed the emergence of a whole number of "bear"-clans that have their roots here in the cave. They are now in the process of forming an "Imperial Bear Empire" with supporting processes, roles and rules.
The cavebears have so far not made a statement about our role in this Imperial Empire, but the elders of the cavebears have had several discussions on this topic over the last week.
This is our analysis:
- Our observation is that being part of such an Imperial Empire requires additional effort
and communications on behalf of the elders to manage membership - especially managing movement of people across clans. ( Including selecting those to move to other clans, leaving spots open, checking credentials...)
- Being part of an Imperial Empire leads to a constant flux of people in and out. This is not good for relationship-building and we already suffer from many personal losses (friends now being in other bear clans), while we need
to build new relationships
- We enjoy defining ourselves by the rules that we live by ... and in tendency we really have enough of them. The Imperial Empire and the foreseen structures would likely impose other "stuff" onto us that brings no value to gameplay - and we would have only diluted influence on it.
- No elder has expressed an interest in systematically maintaining an overview over this Imperial Empire (with new member-clans emerging surprisingly).
- No elder has expressed an interest in having an "emperor" (AKA the "Big Moo"). This is seen as a rather alien concept to most of us.
- We like 90% of the philosophy and 90% of the people in those other bear clans (as far as we still know them). We like them! :-)
... which is not a surprise since they are our offspring :-).
The conclusion is that the elders propose to NOT form part of the Imperial Bear Empire.
At the same time we propose to maintain relations as we do now with the other bears.
Practically that would for example mean that when you leave the cavebears to become part of another bear clan then we wish you the best and would likely let you back into the cavebears later (if you choose to come back) just because we assume that you are compatible with our nature and style of clan atmosphere.
BUT we would not make an effort to keep track of all of our ex-patriots, so you take the risk that there is no open spot left or that the elders that happen to be online donīt know/remember you or donīt feel like admitting any clan hoppers at the moment.
It goes without saying that when cavebears make public statements on open forums we would maintain a positive stance in regards to the other bears or remain silent.
As always, all previous Cavebears are welcome to join us in the cave (as are all bears for that matter).
The above reflects the thoughts and consensus amongst the following:

I have heard various Cave Dwellers discussing this in Chat, but not all members. I would very much like to hear what everyone is thinking.
Hail The Mighty CaveBears.
Yes, I agree in full with what Jorg has posted.
I would not say it any differently :-)

... I have got a supercomputer that can run an endless loop in less than 1 millisec.
... and I use it exclusively to run a web-brouser, because my quad-core 4GHz/16GB-ultrabook
with the high-end gaming graphics accelerator is at full CPU-load with word processing.
... unless I am using dice and a few sheets of paper to do some real fantasy role playing ("DSA")
I have no problem with using volunteers to populate a new bearclan, but I agree with the elders that it this shouldn't be forced.
The Cavebear Elders have my full support
Most people want to play the game and share new friendships. Not to complicate everything. Jorg did a very good job summing things up. Hail to all the bear clans.
