The perils of the occasional leader!

I am in an excellent active clan with a reasonable war record. W4 L4. I am a co-leader but our leader only comes on maybe once or twice a week. I assume he set up the clan when he was more active. I have now reached level 83 and overtaken his level by some way. I effectively run the clan.
I have about 5 sensible elders and 2 co leaders. All is well in the garden. Then our leader (who seems a nice chap even though rarely if ever on chat) comes on last week and promotes 5 more elders. Cue moans from non promoted players many of which were quite right as the choices were random and ignored more active players. It is amazing how much the atmosphere changed instantly! The chat was frosty and to be frank the feel of the clan is not the same and has been damaged considerably.
Anyway, off pops the leader on his merry way leaving me to try and repair the cracks before the dreaded red type starts appearing with people jumping ship! Grrrr. I know I could leave and start again with probably at least 20 nailed on to follow me but 45 active players who all war is not easy to achieve and takes time and work.
Sorry, needed to whinge. I feel better now.

    My Advice...

I was in the exact same situationist as you are. At that point I knew there was no future of the clan, so few other elders and I planned to leave together and we took 90% of the clan with us. And we never looked back. Now we have one of the world top clans.

So my advice do that same. Leader who cant lead doesn't deserve a clan.

Yeah, I do feel that will probably be how the story finishes. I feel bad discussing it on the group chat though and it is obviously a bit awkward when the guys he promoted who don't really deserve it are on too! I've given it some thought as I have put a lot of time and effort into developing the clan, recruiting, weeding non players etc and it's a wrench to start again.

Hey buddy I feel your pain the exact same thing happened to me. I ended up leaving the clan and had everyone follow me to a new one. After going along great for months I ended up passing on leadership to another as life got really busy with a new job and i had to train away from home, while i was away the clan fell apart and people dispersed to many different clans.

Im gonna throw this right out there, I have been working hard on my new project called Shadow Bandits and has been going really well, I tracked down 5 or 6 of my old friends to help me get it started and we are now up to 30 members after just 2 weeks.

We are a solid farming clan that wars once a week, I am really good with leading the people and helping with farming, but am finding it hard on the war side of things. So what I put to you is, if you are the active natural leader you say you are i would love to have you help me out and be my war commander as such. Im lacking an active side kick who is on a lot and has leadership skills. Also having 30 members, and you say you have 20 that would follow it sounds like the perfect match up, the only problem maybe levels as Shadow Bandits is a level 75 minimum clan.

    Here is our recruitment thread.

sign yourself up to glassboard (or something similar) and give the invite code to those you would like to move on with when its ok to do so. . you have control of the chat then

gb is a great tool for tactics so its not an unusal thing to do in itself and it will give extra space for venting outside of clan chat.

definitely move on though. . part time leaders arent leaders at all.

Glassboard? Thanks, Not heard of it. Will try it after work. Yeah that is the problem with recruiting some of the guys I would want to take. Cant discuss it on chat without starting open conflict and I dont want to totally ruin the clan even if i leave as even the guys I wouldn't recruit are all reasonable...

Yeah, its a free cross-platform chat app. . even if you decide to stay its handy as you can share images and links too.

not all of our clan use it but its brought our 'Core' together a little more.
