Nothing easy for me, have had to bust into some storages for some total 200-250k loot but losing my entire barch + giant army each time,

I raid after maintaince all is 200k above me new th8 ..1300+medal range, now hardly see any 200k+

Just your regular loot fluctuation plus a little placebo effect.

I doubt SC actually go out of their way to tweak loot availability, ever. One algorithm to govern village priority, that's all.

I got 8 million gold in 2 hours with no BK and with one spell or none every battle. I think depending on your trophy range the golden hour could be extended because I started at like 1500-1600 and ended up at like 1850 trophies. I seen many bases with 400,000 gold and such. Some where active bases it seemed with max wepons so I had to skip over some of those because wasnt 100% sure i could get all the loot with my handicap at times.
