Whoever told you it's not possible doesn't know how to get it without gems or drills.
After I got the DE storage, I farmed my way up the trophy range. I settled at ~1600 trophies to get my BK to lvl5 and minions/hogs to lvl2.
There's 2 key things you need to farm DE. First, you need a farming base that protects your DE storage. If your base layout is bad, then you will lose DE as fast as you raid for it. Second, you need a good attacking strategy and army composition. I used 10 lvl2 dragons and rage spells. When I was short on elixir, I used a mix of giants/archers/barbs/goblins/wbs. To be really honest, it did not take that long to farm for DE. At 1600 trophies, you will find lots of people with 500-1000 DE loot.

u can get King and Queen without drills and gems. Got my heroes to lv5 without drills, then i built some drills just to get rid of my elixirs.Originally Posted by Davis77

It's definitely doable, I got my BK to level 5 whilst at TH7 (only got to TH8 this morning). Personally I would prioritise upgrading troops, new defences etc before going for DE but it's up to you really. I got it by raiding around the 150---1700 trophy range, there is a fair amount of DE available there. I used 12 Giants, 10 WB, 30 Barbs and 90 archers, all troops were level 4. The key is to pick battles you can win or elixir storage you can get to, ideally both. So lots of town hall sniping, or if you do see a DE storage with plenty of DE (500+ is my minimum) that you can get to then go for it. Otherwise, the next button is your friend.
You farm Dark Elixir, I suggest you go above 1700 to get a fine amount od DE

It has been over a week i m town hall 7 and all i have is 3000 dark elixer i tried all thing go up in trophies but there is no easy elixer and u soon get short of elixer i guess it takes nearly 3 weeks to get the BK
It took me about a weekend to get my BK level 1 and each of the subsequent upgrades to BK5 have taken about a weekend as well. The key is to be in a good trophy range (1500-1700 works for me) and only go for attacks which are likely to get you a decent amount of DE or TH snipes that keep you in that range. If a base has decent DE and you feel that you can get it then concentrate solely on what you need to do to get the DE. If a base doesn't have at least 500 DE or a TH that you can snipe then skip it. You don't need to zap, just concentrate your attacks on bases that are worth attacking. As per my above post I'm using 12 giants to take out defences and be meat shields, 10 wall breakers so I can get through a few layers to get to the DE storage, 30 barbs to be mini meat shields and kill their BK/CC troops and 90 archers to take out the DE storage.

My alt took ages to get the barb king, finally got it though, as I couldn't play it long enough to get high in trophies, I used mass drag to get to storages
On my Mini I dedicated 2 evenings to farming DE and got me the barb king.
Nothing magical about it.
DE is just another ressource. You need to go to Gold II league and raid people that have DE storages. A couple hundreh here, a couple hundred there...before you know it you have the 10k.
You should get your troops to level 4 before doing so.
